If I could no longer fish locally...

It would be a sad day to see the end of 4 generations of recreational anglers. There would be a financial impact on my family, but we would survive. I would be stuck with 2 boats that I no longer need, and that would be worthless since nobody else would want them either. Our coastal community property values would decline. Municipal budgets woud be stretched further

I would take the $20k+ I spend on fishing every year, and fly to locations out of the country that would allow me to feed my passion. Costa Rica, Panama, Venezuela, Guatemala and other countries would benefit from the influx of my dollars (and many others like me). Retirement in Central America is sounding better all the time, please forward my Social Security check (if it is still solvent by then)

The ones who would suffer directly and immediately would be the myriad of marinas, mechanics, tackle shops, manufacturers, painters, charters, insurers and marine supply houses who get my business now. Indirectly, restaurants, hotels and other seasonal businesses would be hurt.

Recreational anglers are not the problem.
