It has taken me a while to post on this thread being just in shock that shutting down so many fishing areas could happen in this wonderful country...
We moved here 10 years ago from across the Atlantic where our family fished a lot just about 20 degrees to the south from Cape Lookout. After 6 years of getting our feet back on the ground and occasionally casting lines from the beach the family decided that we would make the effort to get a place at the coast and buy a locally made boat.
As parents it has been worth the sacrifice to get our kids back into an outdoor activity that teaches them a lot about life and their limits. The Ocean with maybe some areas out West are one of the last places where you get a real sense of freedom and where you can (or should) only count on yourself.
In just 10 years I just feel so much has changed, so many regulations are starting to suffocate this fabulous Country.
Dear Lawmakers, I have fished in different parts of the world and I believe that our waters on the East Coast are very far from being in danger of overfishing. I firmly believe that good management has proven a great come back on certain species. Closing fishing in our area would probably mean selling our house at the coast and finding another dream place out of our borders to share a passion with our kids....
It's also possible to vote from abroad!
Attached is a small sample of family fishing and friend bonding in North Carolina Waters which ARE NOT OVERFISHED....
