I think Admin is going to let me have this space
fishing
I could not imagine a future without fishing. We have seen a tremendous amount of closures in just the past six months. The closures , in my opinion, have not met any real opposition by the fishing industry so they just go strategically from one species to the next. One that is most noteable for me is the grouper/snapper closure. Here in southeastern North Carolina, we have a tremendous amount of folks who enjoy the sport of fishing. We have a wonderful fishery in our area. Many great memories have been made and friendships developed on the water. I know that the recreational fishing industry spends a tremendous amount of money on the sport. Our local economy has already felt the effects of the recent closures. I urge the lawmakers to continue to press NOAA for current data prior to making these closures. I have attended fisheries management meetings and marched on Washington in attempts to open lawmakers eyes. I hope my efforts make a difference. I have also spoken with state representatives. I still don't think that the fishing community has realized where we are headed. I don't think that the representative really care. I care. I want my son to have the same access to the resource that I have enjoyed for the last 35 years. I would like to thank Capt John (Admin) for putting this effort together. It was a pleasure meeting you in Washington. I know that after attending the rally you felt that something more needs to be done and you are taking action. I commend you for your efforts and support them. Thank You.
