Dear Congressman,


Fishing and Hunting in North Carolina has been our family’s form of outdoor activity and fellowship for fun and profit for many years. It’s what we enjoy and what we look forward to after working hard all week. We are not alone. In North Carolina alone over 1,000,000 resident and non-resident hunting and fishing license were sold during the 2008-2009 timeframe.

In the past, many in this group of individuals has been under-represented during Federal and State legislation changes…One may ask,” there are so many but you never hear from them. Who are they, where are they?...Are they waddling around shopping malls on the weekends or at the Summer Fest or the Springtime Bazaar or maybe they are they playing “Wii” or some other virtual reality game?” No! these individuals are engaged in reality, the outdoor kind. If you are lucky you may catch a fleeting glimpse of them around 5:30 AM at boat ramps, marinas, creek banks, fields and farm ponds all across America. At 6:30 PM you may find them huddled in the kitchen around a Fry Daddy with friends and family or outside around a campfire or grill. For the most part they are a widely diverse group of spirited Americans from all walks of life who work hard and enjoy freedom and simple pleasures. They are equipped with a wide range of equipment starting with a five gallon bucket, cane poles and grubbing hoe and upwards to whatever your dreams can afford.


So now you know who we are but before I close there's one more piece of information. This group of Americans is quickly becoming well informed on legislation that is removing rights and freedoms of individuals. You may have only gotten a glimpse of us before but if you really want to know who we are go to the poles on voting day. We'll be there.
