2004 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited â?? GR8TOPS Truck Conversion â?? Show Vehicle This is a 04 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that we purchased a few years back as a bone stock Unlimited to make our show vehicle for the GR8TOPS half hardtops. This is the longer wheelbase TJ that was only made from 2004-2006. The Jeep came this color from the factory and is a somewhat rare color especially on a Unlimited. The official factory name of this color is Electric Lime Green pearlcoat and was a line item upcharge on the window sticker. The color just by itself makes this Jeep stand out from all the rest even if it didn't have all the other toys on it and this GR8TOPS conversion. This is not a Rubicon but only has some of the rubicon extras on it such as flares, and rubicon wheels. First Off, the Jeep itself has these factory specs and options as delivered: · Cruise Control · Air Conditioning · Tilt Steering Column · AM/FM CD player with upgraded stereo system- factory subwoofer in console · Upgraded factory auto dimming rear view mirror w/ Thermostat · Automatic Transmission - Overdrive off manual switch on dash · 4 wheel disc brakes · factory fog lights GR8TOPS is the original company that came up with the idea for these conversions on TJ's and LJ's way back in 2002. We started doing this even before LJ/unlimiteds were even being produced. The GR8TOPS half hardtop conversion on the TJ's and LJ's really makes a great utility vehicle out of a Jeep. The rear seat, carpet, seatbelts are removed from the Jeep. The overhead soundbar speakers are removed and rerouted into the new lower bulkhead panel. The rear section of the rollcage is cut at the main hoop. After that the lower bulkhead closeout panel is installed to close out the lower portion of the bed. It is then sealed with urathane around the bottom lip to create a good seal before spraying with bedliner. The GR8TOPS half hardtop is fiberglass and installs easily over the front section of the factory rollcage. The hardtop can still be removed if you want to go topless. Additionally, the full length factory softop or the full length factory hardtop can be resinstalled if you wanted to go back to those. This is where most people and other companies doing these conversions stop. I've seen jeeps sprayed with bedliner with the rollbar in place and it always looks like someone was just too lazy to do it correctly. Once the bulkhead is in position and mounted, we then completely stripped the inside of the jeep including removing the factory cage, seats, seat belts, console, carpet everything. We then scuffed, and cleaned the jeep. The entire inside and bed of the jeep was then spraeyd with Armadillo Liners spray on bedliner. The spray completely sealed in the bulkhead inside and out and is at least 1/4â?? thick. It has greatly helped with road noise and also will help protect the jeep greatly long term. The factory front section of the cage was reinstalled using normal hex head grade eight bolts and the torx bit bolts were tossed. The GR8TOPS half hardtop is the newer longer version that we came out with earlier this year. It is 2.5â?? longer than our original version and allows a little more recline room on the seats and the floorboard. The top itself does have a few scratches etc in it. If the buyer wishes, I will include a brand new top and slider window if they do not wish to have the logo on the rear window. All other logos, names on the hood, windows, and qtr panels etc are just decals and can be easily removed with heat and some quick cleaner. With all the options on the top, installation and labor materials for spraying the jeep with bedliner, we would normally charge around $2800 to do this conversion. By the time you add up the additional upgrades on this jeep and the conversion itself, this jeep is a very good value. Additional information about the GR8TOPS half hardtops can be found on their website www.GR8TOPS.com Additional aftermarket and accessory upgrades to this jeep are as follows: · AEM cold air intake and filter · Rubicon 16â?? wheels painted flat black · Rancho 4.5â?? competition series TJ short arm lift kit (rare cast iron crisscross pattern greasable control arms) · 4.10 gears F&R · Hanson LJ rocker guards w/ integrated step â?? powdercoated black · Hanson TJ rear bumper w/ receiver hitch and integrated tire carrier â?? powdercoated black · Hanson TJ front winch bumper · Factory Subwoofer â?? rear speakers upgraded to jenson 6x9 enclosed in GR8TOPS bulkhead · Upgraded Rubicon Fender flares â?? wider than stock · MAXXIS Bighorn 255/85 tires â?? brand new â?? less than 1000 miles (34x10.50) · LED 3rd Brake light on GR8TOPS hardtop · Dark Tint Slider window upgrade on GR8TOPS hardtop · NEOPRENE SEAT COVERS · Complete inside and bed of Jeep professionally sprayed with ¼â?? thick Armadillo Spray in bedliner â?? under front seats all the way to firewall I've got some of the original rollcage pieces that were cut from the rear and a custom rear cage that had a cargo rack built onto it. those can go with the jeep as well. The GOOD: This jeep will turn heads and people you will follow you to the gas station to talk to you about it. Frequently gets thumbs up going down the interstate. With all these toys and what has been done to this jeep, it easily has over $20,000 wrapped up in it. The BAD: Because the tires are tall and narrow, they donâ??t provide much rim protection and the wheels have some rock rash on them and paint scratches on them. There are 2 small dings neither of which are very visable. One on the drivers door right in front of the door handle. Other on drivers side rear corner, above taillight. (size of quarter). There are other minor normal scratches, etc consistent with a used vehicle. Additional Information: We purchased this jeep as a repairable and fixed it. It had a light hit on the front passenger side and had some sheet metal damage down the passenger side. The air bags did not deploy and there was no frame damage. We replaced the passenger fender, hood, and side sheet metal. The whole side panel probably could have been repaired but it would have had a lot of bondo in it so we opted to do it right and replaced the whole passenger side sheet metal. It runs drives, straight, no other issues, mileage etc is accurate and correct. It had around 9000 miles on it when we bought it. It currently has a clean SC title but CARFAX may or may not show previous salvage history. Should not have any trouble obtaining finance as the title currently shows clean. I probably do have some prior pictures of the jeep somewhere if anyone wants to see them. I do have a used full black softop w/ all hardware and a matching rear seat that can be purchased separately if buyer is interested in those items. Otherwise just comes with a halftop. Iâ??m located in Lexington, SC and fairly close to the Columbia, SC airport. Fly in and drive home.
