1974 International Harvester IHC Shortbed 4x4 Pickup
Options: Safety Features: Power Options: ** Previous sale fell through, due to an unforeseen issue on behalf of the winning bidder. I elected to allow them out of the deal. Note the much lower price... This vehicle was purchased by me, after having sold my former truck when I was in another state. Needed another truck to get around - and found this. However, I am in need of something more modern. Nothing really wrong with this truck, except that it truly deserves to be restored - for which I have no time. Our plans are to escape SoCal and I can't take it with me. I have gathered parts and manuals, paperwork and bits and pieces. Everything I have collected for this truck go with it, to include; Two (2) replacement fenders, Two (2) Inner Fenders - very nice/ no rot, One (1) hood, One (1) Water Pump - NOS - not required at this time, One (1) Factory Service Manual - in excellent condition, One (1) Line Ticket - shipped from Ohio to Oakland, CA - then sent to Sparks, NV. It is about as original as you can get. It is very likely that the dealer installed the service bed (has NOS IH taillights on service bed - brand is 'SERVIS'), and was used as a small service unit for someone (note the "FUEL" flap, notifying service attendants to refuel the rig - at the left-rear of the service bed). Paint color was originally Sunburst Yellow, but was repainted (one time) to White. Engine is a 392/4-Barrel, with the 727 Automatic Transmission. The carb was changed out from stock to a Carter AFB Performance Series at some point in time. The only issues that I know of are; Transmission is sloppy, but still operating (works best on the freeway and not in the city). Engine would be well-served if a serious tuneup were done. Driver-side Fuel Tank is not being used (former owner said it had not been used in years, and I have elected to not try my luck). The tank is intact, without any apparent damage or leaks. The floors do have rust - along the inside of the rocker panels. Rocker panels are very solid, as are the floors. Rust around the windshield on the exterior - apparently quite common. Driver's door and cab corner are dented. Dashpad is toast. Horn button is missing - and the wire has disappeared inside the column (but the horn does work). The radio is a 'Clarion' replacement unit that is non-op. The dashboard is NOT altered in any way. The bench seat was replaced by me and is in excellent condition. As well, I replaced the ignition - which includes an NOS IH key. All doors lock - including the service bed doors (save for the back bed door - which is missing a lock). Also replaced the turn signal cam. All systems working inside - including wipers/washers and heater. Original hubcaps. Service bed has a ladder rack that has removable bars - for loading oversized items. Bed cover slides back about four feet. This vehicle can be driven quite a distance without fear. Will it go 500 miles without issue? I don't have the answer. But I would not hesitate to drive it to San Diego or Palm Springs, maybe even Bakersfield. The steering is tight, and you won't find any major leaks or drips. Tires are in good shape, though mismatched pairs on front and rear (two of the same in front, another matching pair in back). Four-wheel-drive system is operational - but sees zero use. I am confident the buyer will be pleased with their new rig. I'm not asking for much, and know this is a very rare piece. Ask any questions, and I'll try to answer as soon and honestly as possible. This is the second time I am listing a vehicle on here, so excuse any omissions or errors. Tags (in California) are due in December - but no SMOG is ever required for this oldtimer. Total Mileage will be declared as TMU - but it appears original. Clean title and registration in hand. The starting price I think is fair. No surprise reserve pricing - anything over - now - $1200.00 is going to get it! I'm positive there are others whose disease is worse than mine, so good luck and may your better-half let you drive it home. You will not find another IHC Shortbed 4x4 anywhere on this site for this price - and in this condition... If you are from out of town I will be glad to pick you up at any of the airports or bus stations in L.A. county - w/o charge. Call me with any questions, if so desired, @ 310.418.9749 / 9am to 11pm PST. - William More... |
