Neat stuff! That mop trick is nifty. Wish it worked on NE/MA bugs. They have a no glove/no knife policy for divers down there?

I am not aware of any no glove policy. Of course the spineys way different than North Atlantic/Maine/New England lobstahs... Funny, you can lift one of them in the air by those long feelers they have, no problem. But grab one underwater to try to pull them out of the rocks and it comes off in your hand. They dump those like a hot potato.

The policy is kinda crazy, and not uniformly enforced. Spear guns are illegal here. Even hawaiian slings. BUT you can buy them in the store. I have been told that if you have a commercial fishing license, you can use a sling to take spineys. The catch is that you have to be a citizen to get a commercial fishing license.

The rest of us, without commercial fishing licenses, cannot use anything sharp that could hurt the lobster. Can use a tickler, a net, a mop, etc. no problem Not a boat hook or knife, etc.

Wow! Thats a bunch of regs. I haven't had a chance to get wreck diving this season but I always enjoyed grabbing bugs from the wrecks around here. We don't have too many regs other than a min size and no females. I believe now you need a "shellfish license" in NJ now. Haven't been down there in so long. Soon enough though.

Very interesting!

The JRT is a male. We brought him down with us from NJ. He comes from PA originally.

I have been continuously surprised by this dog. I have had dogs most of my life, and the smallest dog I ever owned ( a Brittany) was four times the size of this guy. I never put much stock in 'yappy little dogs'

Well, we got this one. He is, by far, the smartest dog I have ever owned. He is almost fearless, and the only thing that freaks him is thunder. Well, fireworks, loud noises like that.

He will take on three full sized dogs, and 9 times out of ten run them all off.

He surprised me at how quickly he took to the ocean. If he gets near the water, he will jump in for a swim for the hell of it. Whether we are going in or not. he loves boats, he loves fishing.

He's small enough not to crowd you in a tight spot, a can of dog food lasts two meals, and the residue of that is proportionally easy to deal with.

I can shampoo him in a utility room sink, and in a bind he is easy to scoop up and carry.

All in all, I am a convert. No more labs for me.

yeah, he barks a pretty mean game. And he is all over that kayak.....BUT

when we run into one of these:

and we see the first lightning flash, before the thunder can even reach us Dooley the Diver is hiding in the safest place on the boat:

He was shaking, shivering, and panting in that photo. This is his thunder anxiety attack.

I have been wanting a small dog for a companion, Troy has our GREAT BIG LAB Marlin as a buddy.
I have been leaning toward a JRT, or a Feist. (sp?).
I want a smart dog that will be my buddy, and will listen when I call him. Marlin is so big that when I try to walk him he ends up pulling me around... That is no fun.
