Wow, I just did a big trip down memory lane during the stormy hell week last year.
Cay Lime R.I.P - TS Hanna makes an unexpected turnaround, turns into a Cat 3 Hurricane and trashes ours and approx 40 other boats
Ike goes Cat 4 - Hurricane Ike five days later
Prayers were answered - A thank you and a reminder of when SFC was a family
We kinda feel the same way here in Eastern NC. Guess there is no such thing as the "perfect" place to live. It's hurricane's,wildfire's, mud slide's, toronado's, ice and snow storm's, hot/cold, etc.... Take your pick. Good thing is this ain't your first rodeo, you know what to do. Guess you could alway's move back to Jersey!!!! No thank'x. Keep in touch, we'll keep you guy's in our thought's and prayer's (yes they work). Frank
I think I'll stay put thanks!
Yes, this is not our first rodeo and that does help. We had already been stockpiling bottled water and canned goods. Our boat is already in the driveway. We just bought a portable generator yesterday! It's small but we can keep the food and pump the water. That works fo rme. The roof, thanks to two hurricanes, is better than ever because of the (relatively minor) repairs we made to it. We never did replace the twenty-something outside light fixtures that got trashed last year so nothing to lose there.![]()
Pretty much know the process chapter and verse by now. I use my welding machine as a generator. Stock up on the esentials. Keep your head down till it's over, then go clean up. It's those year's when they come back to back that are a real pain in the hind part's.
Some how, didn't think you'd be heading back "up North". Frank
Sandy Point, on North Caicos is far enough north for most of the time...
Silly as it sounds going through them in a relatively remote place at least to me is nicer than in urban south Florida... With no power and torn up infrastructure people in large numbers seem to become uglier. Fighting and bickering about anything. Gas, food, ice lines miles long. Heavy traffic and no lights to get it to flow. Looting. Rotting vegetation and heat just add to it...
Good luck gringos. Looks like shes got a bead on my area of sofla right now too. "A" storms this late in the year can be a ral *****. Andrew comes to mind. Hunker down and be safe...
Yea, the folks here have been fairly self-reliant for so long that I guess they pretty much expect to take care of themselves!
Well they are now predicting that Ana will jog farther south while Bill looms on the horizon. I guess this is the roller coaster of it, eh? It's gotten the blood pumping, I'll say that - got a few more things done today that have been neglected so at least there's progress!![]()
Got you guys in my thoughts and prayers. Positive
thoughts to push them away...![]()
