i also deal with a guy here in trinidad that has bought dysfunctional landrovers here for a long time and has a land rover grave yard and sells them off in parts.
so gringo when i was tc i saw a few land rovers around that were in great disrepair ( ie not drivable) but had a tone of parts that were good, one was at the other marina not turtle cove the other one with floating docks and i sure you could buy it cheap for parts if you needed to.
I just picked up two windshield washer pumps and a trailer hitch from a rolled Defender here. Wouldn't mind having a few around to pick over. Can keep these things going forever if you can find parts. Easy to work on.

Hey, Trini, if you want to discuss land rovers or the TCI or anything you know you can contact me via the blog or email. But I don't plan to post any more on SFC. I was pretty saddened to come back and see it's become 'infected' by a bunch of immature jerkoffs who like to hurt people's feelings for fun, and who act like a bunch of monkeys masturbating in public.

    Who needs it? Not us.

So, basically, this is goodbye to SFC. Lot of good people here, still, and I wish them the best of luck.

    Adios.

my land rover is full of knobs and switches that i have had to add for everything that is necessary to drive..ex, lights, indicators, horn and windshield wipers sometimes when i hop in to go somewhere in the dark when its raining its like i am doing a pre flight check in a boeing 747... this switch that switch, are they all working? ...great all systems go lets do this.
i have had several of the land rovers now started with a 1964 88inch series II with a 2.25 petrol that just went forever, not fast but it got you there through anything, then i upgraded to a 200tdi 90 soft top with power steering and disc brakes was quite a blast but then i got a chance to own a v8 ... and couldnt turn it down, gas is cheap in trinidad and it has got straight through pipes for the exhaust and sounds like a drag racer! and is an animal off road.
i live up on one of the hills in trinidad and the road is not paved so i can sympathize with the bumpy roads working things loose i have had the spare wheel fall off the back door and not even realized....i have found the best place to mount it is on the bonnet with the bonnet mount kit that you can pick up on ebay quite cheap.
the grin when you are driving a landrover is priceless though!

edit - gottaflylee landrovers are the best for the rough stuff... just take the hose when your done and wash inside and out...trinidad is full of rainforest and its a blast to go exploring in the landrover on a sunday
Guy's I have over 300,000 miles off road in Africa in Landies never a word more spoken in truth from 2a's to defenders, problem with the wheel on the bonnet is it shorts the battery out real quick after the first 1000 miles the arm that supports the port side of the bonnet (hood) buckles and touches the battery, smoke and other poo comes out your dash nasty. the drums are fine at off road speeds 10-20 mph
the handbrake is the pits on early models1a through3 the old break shoes around the back prop shaft always a **** up, Hnyway could be worse, could be a land-cruiser motto how to get stuck anywhere and not get out and nearly die had a front prop drop off the front diff stood me on my nose thank-god did not go over on my head, never drove one again never will, off-road it could not take the hammering the Landie did, plus try and find an electronic part in the middle of no-where, my rover's I can fix with fence wire.

A few years back, I owned a '97 NAS defender and sold it for an NSX. I've been missing the D90 ever since, so today......

    I bought this....

C'mon G, we both know that thing will never see any mud, unless my dog tracks it in there. The sole purpose of that vehicle is to pick up Russian chicks in Ocean City that we can't have anyway
