A changing perspective
What the world is coming to. I had posted some things in a different thread, but thought maybe I would start one here in this forum.
Since moving to this little third world island nation four years ago, something in our perspective of the world has changed. We did not anticipate this, but we acknowledge that it has happened. I don't know if it's the 'big fish in a small pond' thing, or that living in a foreign country one eventually gets to see how the rest of the world sees Americans. You don't get that spending a week at a resort. Resorts are seclusive. Maybe it's just that when you are standing on a small hill looking off at a big forest, you get a different perspective than you do when standing under a tree in the deep middle of the forest. But what we have noticed is that we see things differently now than we did four years ago. And sometimes I see things that make me wonder just what the world is changing into. Especially, from our beloved mother country the US of A. For example, this morning I see something like this: "Bernard Madoff hires help to survive hard time" ( http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/new...cle6633809.ece ) and I have to ask myself, " is this for real?" This ultimate crook, swindler, destroyer of charities, who stole uncounted millions of dollars from innocent trusting people, is hiring a consultant to study which prison he should spend the rest of his life in? Are you kidding me? WHERE does he get a friggen nickel to spend on a consultant? He should be thrown in the dirtiest, worst prison we have, stark naked until they give him his prison jumpsuit. Because he should not have a dime. Not a penny.

In some ways you want to see him in a maximum security prison locked in his cell not seeing another person. But what fun would that be? Better he should be placed in a regular prison with other convicted felons (the blue collar crime types, not the embezzlers and the inside stock traders) and let nature take it's course in the yard. I am all for survival of the fittest. Lets prove or disprove Darwin's' theory of "natural selection" see if he can adapt. Hell see if he can survive a week.
