Ron Jones 5 Liter or National Mod Hydroplane
Ron Jones 5 Liter or National Mod Hydroplane Vehicle Description Ron Jones Hydroplane, recently reinforced, reskined, faired, and painted. This boat has a kevlar capsule, simpson belts, APBA legal fuel cell, mechanical steering system ( not cable), lever controlled canard wing with foot controlled override/ kick down. This boat is one of a kind, originally built buy the legend of hydroplane racing Ron Jones. The boat is being sold without the engine but with the chain coupler, shaft and jones shaft log. Oil pressure, tach, and water temp gauges are installed in the dash. I am including the capsule lid in this sale although I have never installed it. Also included in this sale is the trailer sold without title ( home built) or lights. The boat length is 17'-9"( from tip of sponson to end of rudder) and 8'-6.5" (outside of sponsons) wide with a 4'-6" air trap ( measurment between sponsons). This boat was built in 1973 it was raced in Canada as well as the U.S.. It was last raced as the Aiki Mikie by Mike Melina with at least 40 heat wins and 25 final wins. a little history is this boat is Warren Ignacio's former 5 liter, and if i am not mistaken Joe Cristafarrom had it for a while, this is the hydro that Warren had with the angled right sponson, this boat would probably make someone a good vintage hydro More... |
