Tug-yacht luxury liveaboard trawler Vehicle Description This is a rare incredible oppertunity to own a classic piece of history. This is probably the nicest tug-yacht conversion in the country. Check yachtworld.com for comparisons throughout the world. This tug started its life in 1940 in a New Orleans shipyard (Avondale shipyard) The U.S Navy had her built to serve our country in W.W. 2 She was originaly named the Chipola. She was sent to Virginia to work in the Naval harbor. After her tour, she was sold off to a private company and was a working tug for a few years. Then in the mid 1970,s a complete restoration started. Many years later she was almost done. The tug was than renamed the Wildflower and was brought to New York City where the owner lived on her for 10 years. During this time he rented the main living area out as a bed and breakfast and lived in the bunkroom. In 2007 we bought the tug and started to get her ready for the trip to Michigan. Tug was pulled and sandblasted, new metal was welded where needed. Zincs were installed, bottom was primed and painted, shaft was re-packed and other micsalanious tasks done. Two weeks later she was in Michigan, everything ran and worked as it should. Since back in Michigan, the entire rest of hull was scraped to bare metal, than two part epoxy primers and paints were used. The hand railings were all removed and new ones welded on. All four extereior doors custom made, mahagony and cherry. The entire living area was gone through and updated. The original engine was removed (back in the 1970,s), leaving a large living area above the engine room. A much smaller 12-71 Detroit Diesel was installed which made for a excellent trawler. Very economical, she burns 8 gallons per hour while cruising 8 m.p.h. A very impresive 1 m.p.g. for a ship that weighs 145 tons! The interior of the tug was completely re-figured. There is a very large salon with bar area and full galley on the main level. This area was the second story of the engine room. There is a full refridgerator, stove, oven, dishwasher etc... Forward and to starboard there is a very nice single berth. To the port of that is a full bath with shower stall, and going all the way forward is a beautiful large queen size master bedroom. Attached is a master head with full size bathtub, shower. Up from the main level is the the wheel house, large area with chart table and electronics. The ships wheel was replaced with a much more desirable hydraulic joystick for steering. Behind the wheel house the the captains berth. Large queen size bed with ample storage. A door from there leads to the large open deck, with stairs going back down the main level. Below decks there is a huge bunkroom which sleeps 6 people. There is a full size laundry room with washer and dryer. The engine room is very spacious with the new smaller more practical engine. The electrical power is supplied by a 20 k.w. Detroit diesel generator, which is ample for running everything on the tug. She holds 4000 gallons of fuel, 4000 gallons of balast, 2000 gallons of fresh water, and 2000 gallons of waste holding tank. The tug is 80' long, 22' wide and draws 7.5' This vessel is ready to make a new home virtually anywhere in the world. I can deliver anywhere to North America (for a charge) Please email for many more pictures. There is a website wildflowertug.com please look here for more info on the tug. There is lots more to tell, please feel free to inquire if seriously interested. This small ship has endless possabilities. Very easy to handle with two people. Turn key vessel. Ready to go!
