1999 Novurania MED 660 RIB 22' Rigid Inflatable Jet Vehicle Description 1999 Novurania MED 660 RIB 22' Rigid Inflatable (RIB) Jet Boat Up for sale is a 1999, 6.6 meter rigid inflatable jet boat built by the one of the worldâ??s premier RIB makers. Novuraniaâ??s quality is unmatched and unquestioned - there is a reason they are commonly referred to as the Rolls-Royce of inflatable boats. This boat is a one-of-a kind from the manufacturer and fitted out with almost all of the options they offered. With only two hundred total hours on the boat/drivetrain she is ready to offer years of dependable and fun service. No expense has been spared in maintaining and upgrading this boat. I have a folder full of receipts to document everything done. She is amazingly capable and would make the perfect boat for someone who knows what these boats are all about. The boat was originally purchased for use as a tender on a megayacht where it saw little use. I acquired it from a marina owner several years ago because it was in fantastic shape, having been stored indoors and covered whenever not in use. All maintenance is up-to-date (detailed below) and this boat is turn-key ready with absolutely nothing needed. The boat was made in the USA and so is eligible for certification to carry passengers or cargo commercially in US waters (boats made outside the US cannot be used for these commercial purposes). To begin, the manufacturer specifications are as follows: TYPE: Novurania MED 660 LENGTH: 22â??4â?? LOA (with swimstep) BEAM: 8â??-10â?? DRAFT: 18â?? BRIDGE CLEARANCE: 9â?? (including radar arch) CONSTRUCTION: GRP (hull), hypalon tubes SPEED: 26-30mph (cruising), 45+mph (top) WATERJET: Vosper Vospower 90A w/ transmission ENGINE: Volvo 5.0Gi, 8-cylinder, fuel injected, 240HP BUILDER: Novurania of America, Vero Beach, FL, USA Hull and Deck Features a deep-V fiberglass hull which is a hand laid two-part sandwich construction. The stringers are pre-formed foam/fiberglass providing a wide track foot print, lighter weight, and non-deteriorating construction. The fiberglass flooring is non-skid and there are molded storage compartments below the floor as well as in the integrated seating. There is a large forward anchor locker that drains into the bilge. An anchor, chain, and rode are provided with the boat, although the buyer may wish to change these depending on how the boat will be used. Radar Arch â?? custom fabricated and mounted by the Novurania factory. Wiring for the radar, GPS, VHF antenna, and lights are routed inside the tubing for maximum protection. Four-point lift capability - The boat is fitted for lifting with stainless lift-point hardware, one located on each side of the middle deck and one located inside the rear seat storage boxes. Steel bow rail - A heavily reinforced bow post/rail is securely in place with integratednavigation lights and anchor cleat. Scuba tank racks â?? Two custom fabricated powder coated aluminum tank racksflank each side of the engine hatch. They each hold 3 tanks of various sizes with or without gear attached. They have integrated tank straps and steel cable tiedowns that can be locked. These are removable should the next owner not care to use them. Transom - The integrated fiberglass swimstep offers easy access with a steel grab rail and folding swim ladder. There is also retractable fresh water shower hidden behindan access door (the 8 gallon aluminum tank is mounted forward and under the deck) and an integrated ski tow hook. Two bilge drain plugs are below and permanently connected to prevent loss. There is even a special port threaded for a garden hose thatallows for conveniently flushing the engine after use. Center Console The center console is nicely molded and firmly affixed to the deck. Two hinged doors beneath the helm permit access to the large storage area beneath. Other featuresinclude: Molded-in front console seat cushioned with underseat cooler and drain. A-frame surround grab rail which is thru-bolted with large backing washers. A smoke tinted plexiglass windshield mounted with spacers to the rail. Tilting steering wheel (steering cable has been replaced) Ritchie S-1000W compass is flush and center mounted in the top of the console. The compass is lighted and turns on with the ignition. Throttle and forward/reverse controls are right hand mounted. Both have received new cables and move freely. Humminbird GPS/sonar and Furuno radar displays, Icom VHF radio, labeled breaker panel, and 12v accessory port are mounted near the steering wheel and are described fully in the electronics section of this description. Controls for the remote spotlights lie next to the trim tab indicators. The ignition key is located beneath the full complement of engine instruments, and a man-overboard kill switch is provided. Inflatable Tubes The heavy duty Hypalon tubes are in excellent condition and hold air indefinitely with no leaks whatsoever. There are 5 separate chambers, two along each side and one at the bow. Double gray rub strakes, also heavy duty, encircle the entire boat and really do a great job of protecting the tubes. Grab handles run the full length of the cockpit area and add a nice margin of safety. There is only one small patch at the rear of the port tube, however this was installed by a Novurania technician during the first ownerâ??s tenure and it still looks perfect. The tubes on this boat are in the best condition of any RIB I looked at and this should be on the top of any potential buyerâ??s checklist. Do some research and you will see that a replacement set for a boat in poor condition will cost you nearly the same as your purchase price. This boat is always covered when not inuse and I routinely apply special inflatable cleaner and 303 Aerospace protectant to keep them looking this good. Seating The boat has a rated capacity of 18, with passenger seating on the built-in cushioned areas and on the tubes. The forward seating arrangement is u-shaped and cushioned with underseat storage. The seat ahead of the console is molded therein. The rear seating is a full-width low profile bench behind the helm with remote control power up &down backrest. All of the cushions are secured by snap fasteners and I have a large aft sunning pad that also snaps in over the engine hatch. Engine The boat is powered by a Volvo 5.0Gi inboard gasoline engine with 201 total hours. This is a fuel-injected V-8 outputting 240 horsepower. It has been routinely serviced and all maintenance is absolutely up to date. The starter and impeller have been replaced; all electrical connections and hoses have been inspected and replaced asnecessary. The fuel injection system was overhauled. Spark plugs and all filters have been replaced. Instruments on the control panel include tach with digital hour meter, oil pressure, volts, water temp, and fuel level. All gauges are in working order with functioning lights. The engine is accessed through the large rear hatch that affords easy access for all servicing. This hatch is supported by hydraulic struts and has been fiberglass reinforced to support the weight of at least two fully laden divers. Inside, there is an exhaust fan, compartment light, and fiberglass platforms for the two batteries. Fuel system A 50 gallon aluminum fuel tank is mounted below deck just forward of the engine bay and under the center console, with a fill tube inset mounted on the port side. There is a chrome cape and a locking filler insert. The tank was inspected during the lastservice and given a good bill of health. There is an easily accessible fuel filter/water separator mounted inline within the engine compartment. A service manual for the engine will be provided. The engine runs on 87 octane gasoline and regularly returns 2+ miles per gallon. Vosper Vospower 90A Jet Propulsion is provided by a Vospower 90A waterjet. There is a transmission between the engine and jet allowing the impeller to turn in reverse (this is very helpful in clearing weeds/kelp pulled through the intake grate and also allows the boat to move in reverse without the bucket). There is also a bucket that is used to normally control forward and reverse propulsion. The impeller is in very good condition and all of the cables have been replaced. The jet drive unit is basically maintenance free however a copy of the manual will be provided with the boat. Electronics All navigation and communication electronics were replaced, and the house system completely rewired with new components. In addition to a bilge pump operated by an on/off automatic switch on the breaker panel, and a 12v universal accessory plugmounted below to it, the navigation, communication and wiring system are described in the following paragraphs. Communications - A 25 watt ICOM M402 DSC VHF marine radio is flush mountedinto the console using the ICOM MB-69 flush mount kit. The radio has full scan capability, meets JIS level 7 waterproof standard (submersible in 3-feet of water up to 30 minutes, covers all U.S., Canadian and international marine channels, has push button channel 16 and NOAA weather. The radio receives data from the on-board GPS providing DSC capability, allowing it to send an automatic "mayday" that identifies the vessel and its location. It will also continue sending the emergency signal if the skipper is disabled. Another feature of the DSC radio is the ability to place private ship-to-ship calls to other vessels equipped with DSC radio. Just like using your cell phone. A new 6' Shakespeare VHF antenna is attached to the top of the radar arch with a stainless steel ratcheting mechanism. Navigation - The primary navigation setup is a Humminbird 797c2 SI GPS with fish finder, side-scan sonar, and barometric pressure monitor. This is an incredibly versatile system with the latest technology and ease of operation that Humminbird is known for. The side-scan sonar is extremely accurate in painting a truepicture of structure on the ocean floor. It is also a full-featured chartplotter providing bold, sunlight-readable color, fast processing and the versatility of a multifunctiondisplay. The enclosure can withstand rain, sunlight and saltwater spray, and the case is fully gasketed and waterproof to IPX7 standards. The screen unit is adjustable and removeable for security purposes. The GPS antenna is mounted on the custom fabricated radar base in the center of the radar arch. There is a transom mounted sounder and DualBeam Plus sonar is accurate down to a depth of 1500 feet while the Side Imaging Sonar is able to show amazingly clear, picture-like images of fish, the bottom, and structure 150â?? down and up to 240â?? on each side of the boat simultaneously. Furuno 1623 LCD Radar System â?? This 2.2kW radar has a 16 nautical mile range, yet will zoom down to 1/8 nautical mile for tight navigation in harbors and inlets. The 1623 radar lets you readily identify objects, thanks to a high definition 6" Silver Bright LCD screen that clearly separates targets. Plus, the four-tone target display lets you easily differentiate between stronger and weaker echoes, helping to alert you of any danger. The radar system is directly tied into the GPS for the most accurate heading and coordinate information. The antenna is centered on the radar arch and attached to acustom mount. The screen unit can be tilted and also completed removed for security purposes. Navigation Lights â?? Red/green side lights are integrally mounted into the front bow post and a white all around anchor light is ratchet-mounted to the custom base aft of the radar. There is also a white running light at the base of the transom just above the swim platform. Remote Controlled Spotlights â?? 2 Guest 22200 halogen spotlights are mounted on each side of the radar dome and they feature 100,000 candlepower each and full individual joystick remote control from the dash. Bennett Hydraulic Trim Tabs â?? A pair are installed along with LCD dash indicators switches. These allow for repositioning the boat's bow to cut through the water for less drag and engine laboring, which translate into increased performance, greater speed, and reduced fuel consumption. Other benefits include reduced pounding, which means greater comfort, and greater visibility, which increases safety. Durability is the biggest advantage of hydraulic trim tabs over electric systems but these also offer minor adjustments as well. Stereo System â?? Audio entertainment is handled by a Clarion M475 head unit, which is a dedicated marine CD receiver with built-in amplifier (21 watts RMS/50 peak Ã? 4 channels). It also features AM/FM, MP3/WMA/XM capability, and a detachable faceplate. It is mounted inside a closeable marine housing that is easily accessible while at the helm. The four speaker system comprises two 6â?? units beneath the rear bench seat and two 6â??x9â?? flush mounted speakers on the console sides. The sound is clear and crisp and can be heard while the boat is underway if desired. Electrical system overview â?? The wiring system has been completely gone through, with new shrink wrap connections. Everything works as it should and I have not encountered any problems whatsoever. Power to the house and start system is provided by two 12v marine batteries located on raised platforms at each side of the engine compartment. Positive cables run from each battery to a 1/2/All battery selector switch mounted inside the starboard storage box. There are 12 breaker protected toggle switches on the dash that control the bilge pump, nav/anchor lights, courtesy deck lights, engine compartment light, instrument/dash lights, transom fresh watershower/washdown, powered backrest, engine exhaust blower, trim tabs, marineradio/stereo system, and GPS/radar. Trailer The included trailer is an EZ Loader custom tandem axle with surge disc brakes. This trailer is loaded with every conceivable feature - folding tongue, side running lights that illuminate the nameplates from behind, and even backup lights. I replaced the jack with a new heavy duty square tube upgrade. It also has new wheel bearings, new brakes, bearing buddies, 4 newer radial tires, a new winch strap, and two brand new retractable transom tie downs. The entire wiring system was gone through on the trailer and works perfectly. The wiring connector is a flat-5 plug. Extras I have the complete Novurania documentation package including the original ownerâ??s manual, build sheets, quality control checklist, and shipping receipts. Also included are a Volvo repair manual, VOS jet drive manual and schematics, manuals for all of theelectronics, and the black and white depth/GPS/chart plotter originally fitted to the boat. A nice footpump with valve adapter is in the forward storage area. The boat cover was custom fitted and has been modified to fit around the scuba tank racks. Terms and Conditions The boat is located in Oxnard, California and is available for inspection by appointment (email to make arrangements). The boat is exactly as described and has been recentlysurveyed, however it is of course being offered used and in as-is condition. PLEASE inspect before you buy if you have any concerns. An inspection by a licensed marine surveyor will cost about $200 and is well worth it for any boat you are looking at. There are quite a few in the Ventura/Oxnard area that you can find with some online research. Both the boat and trailer have clear California titles and current registration. Payment A $1,500 Paypal deposit is due immediately. Full payment must be made within 7 days of auction. I can put the buyer in touch with an excellent private shipper who charges more than reasonable rates, but all arrangements are up to the buyer and should be taken into consideration before purchase. Very Important Note I absolutely refuse to deal with offers outside of eBay. I have sold four cars here, (including a very nice Acura NSX whose buyer emailed me 6 months later thanking me for being so honest and for taking such nice car of the car), all of which had very satisfied buyers. I can't begin to tell you how many 'serious' buyers I have had on vehicles who said they were coming that weekend with cash. Of course, none of these dreamers ever do. Please don't waste your time or mine (which I consider extremely valuable). I have perfect feedback over many years for a very good reason - I represent everything as it is without any exaggeration. This boat is being sold for less than any other comparable RIB you will find anywhere and for nearly $20k less than the recently appraised market value. I know this economy is not conducive to selling toys, but this boat is an absolute bargain and is being sold at a tremendous loss. The sale is final so please have all questions answered before the auction closes.
