Sea-Doo (Bombardier) Speedster 1995 14.5' twin 80 HP Vehicle Description 1995 Sea-Doo (Bombardier) Speedster 14' 6" length with twin 80 hp Rotax (657X) engines. Original Shoreland'r trailer in good condition. Includes skis, tow rope, anchor, dock lines, life vests, spare tire, paddle, flares. I bought this boat in April, 2007, thinking it would be a great family boat, but my wife hates it. We used it exactly once, Memorial Day, 2007, for about 90 minutes. With three of us aboard (500-550 lbs.), the boat's speedometer indicated 54 mph. The GOOD: hull is sound, trailer is roadworthy. Sale includes original owner's manual, the gear bag shown in the pictures that came with the boat, and a copy of a pdf file shop manual I bought on eBay. Boat has lived under its cover and a tarp since I bought it. Previous owner stored it indoors during winter. I had it winterized every year, and started it up in Spring 2008 and 2009. In April, I put new sealed batteries in it ($150.00 for the pair). Previous owner claimed it was mostly used in the upper Potomac River near Hagerstown, but he indicated it had also been used in the Chesapeake Bay. The one time I used it was in the Potomac near Hagerstown. The BAD: When I put the new batteries in it this Spring, one engine started up a ran fine. The other engine started up, ran for 15 seconds, and stopped. It will start, but only by removing the breather cover and pouring in a few drops of gas or a squirt of starting fluid. Both engines smoke when they are first started, but after a minute the smoke clears. These engines are oil injected, and from what I have read in Sea-Doo forums, many people disable the oil injectors and pre-mix the oil and gas. If I was going to keep the boat, I would probably do this. The boat still has the oil and gas in it that was in it the day I took it for a ride (May, 2007). This may be the cause of the one engine not running on its own. I suspect the carbs need to be cleaned, but am too old to work on it, and I need to get it out of the driveway (I bought a Hobie Cat for the new family boat, and the Speedster MUST go!) Boat has the usual gel coat spider cracks, and also has a larger spider crack that the previous owner said was from an impact with a dock. This can be seen in one of the pictures on the gunwale next to the console. I believe that this is only cosmetic, and the crack was filled with 3M 5200 to keep moisture out. I can lift out the storage compartment inside the steering console, and can see from the inside of the hull that the damage is only on the gel coat outside of the hull. There are no soft spots in the hull. The upholstery and the cover are also 100% original, and are useable, but really are ready to be replaced. The cover keeps the leaves out, but is no longer waterproof, so I keep a poly-tarp over it. Basically, this is a sound, original 1995 Speedster that was well cared for by its owners, but now (after 14 years!) is in need of some updating. Has only has 90 minutes use in the last three years. These Rotax engines are the same ones used in Sea-Doo jet skis from the mid-1990s. Parts and service are readily available, and there are many aftermarket performance parts for these engines and jet pumps. I cracked a rib this Spring while leaning into the engine compartment to replace the batteries, and have decided that I am too old (and overweight) to work on the engines. I have over $4,000 in the boat and trailer, and reserve is set at less than half that. Someone will get a great deal on a boat that really does not need much work. If I was going to keep it, I'd remove and rebuild the carbs, winterize the engines, and replace the upholstery and the cover during the winter months. The boat is also for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction early if I sell it locally. I (and my wife!) really want it out of the driveway before we get freezing weather, so I need to sell it NOW. My loss will be someone's gain. Titles for boat and trailer are clear and in my name. Refundable deposit required. If winning bidder decides not to buy, deposit will be refunded. Payments accepted: cash, cashier's checks, or Paypal only. No personal checks, and no money orders. No shipping. Boat and trailer are for sale as is and where is. Please email me with any questions.
