39'6" custom sailing boat Vehicle Description 39.6 racing sailboat project FOR SALE: 40 FT. LONG CUSTOM SAILBOAT. I bought this boat 6 years ago or so and spent 3 summers working on it. I fixed the deck and put primer on it. There were some small cracks in the hull that have been repaired. The hull needs to be sanded a little bit more before it can be painted. There is a 2 cylinder volvo-penta diesel engine in it that starts up with no problem. It has its raillings and sails. The mast is 56 ft long, the spinaker extension is 8 ft long, there are no electronics ( it was old and outdated so I got rid of it). I had to move over 1000 miles away, so the distance and lack of time doesn't allow me to finish this project (plus where i live now the boat is simply too big to be put in the water). The boat was built Lindenberg Yachts, Inc in Cocoa, FL . The same guys built THURSDAY'S CHILD, an Open 60â?? ultra light single-handed ocean racer. she was the most innovative and fastest ocean racer of her kind in the mid 80's period and set the following records: 1984 Winning the Observer Single-handed Transatlantic Race (OSTAR) from Plymouth, England to Newport, Rhode Island, Warren Luhrs set a new monohull record of 16 days 22 Hours. 1989 As the first boat to break "Flying Cloud's" Clipper-ship record set in 1854 around Cape Horn from New York to San Francisco of 89 days. "Thursday's Child" completed the journey in 80 days 18 hours. 1994-95 "Thursday's Child" last big race was the 1994-95 BOC Single-handed Around The World Race, sailed and completed by skipper Arnet Taylor. It's depth is 6'2". I purchased it in Sanduski, OH and it was raced on lake Erie. All storage will be covered up to the date of sale.
