Cuddy Cabin Sailboat with Trailer Vehicle Description For sale is a 2001 Com-Pac Suncat gaff-rigged sailboat that is in virtually new condition. The boat was sold new in 2001 to the original owner by Yachtworks in Sister Bay Wisconsin. The first owner sailed the boat once then stored it very carefully then sadly passed away. I am the second owner and purchased the boat from Yachtworks in July of 2007 when it was offered as a brokerage boat to settle the first owner's estate. The boat included the following factory equipment: Cuddy cabin with V-berths for 2 with cloth cushions and a Sani-Potti which has never been used Shoal draft keel with stainless centerboard Mastendr (TM) quick mast rigging system Air Force sail with navy blue sail color Deluxe vinyl cockpit cushions which have never been used (this was a $600 factory option) Transom mounted outboard bracket Galvanized Performance trailer with spare tire The complete specifications for the Suncat along with picture galleries and film clips can be viewed at the Com Pac Yachts website at http://www.com-pacyachts.com/trailer...s/sun-cat.html I sailed the boat in 2007 and 2008 and made many improvements to the boat. Improvements include adding the folowing equipment: Deck mounted Fortress anchor with rope deck pipe Stainless factory folding stern ladder Brass hasps and keyed-alike locks for cabin hatch and cockpit lockers Prepped for single line reefing Saturn bulkhead mounted compass Full navigation lights including steaming and anchor lights controlled by a convenient waterproof fuse protected cockpit mounted switch panel Garage package including lift-off boom gallows and special dolly wheel allowing boat to be stored in garages with minimum 84 inch door height Shoal keel mounted Minn Kota RT55EM electric auxiliary motor provides a maximum of 55lbs of very quiet smooth thrust, enough to move the boat at hull speed 3 knots with infinite speed control in forward or reverse at your fingertip controlled by a small hand-held single knob control. This model is designed for use in either fresh or salt water. This motor arrangement makes the boat handle like an inboard and eliminates the noise and hard to reach controls associated with a transom mounted outboard. This electric motor arrangement works very well, way better than the outboard. The outboard bracket remains on the boat in the case the boat needs to be motored for several days. Battery power comes from 2 brand new Optima D31M sealed absorbed glass mat deep cycle batteries wired in parallel to provide up to 6hrs of motor operation at 25 amp motor current. In calm weather this would be about 12-15 nautical miles range. Batteries are mounted in the cabin under the companionway step near the centerboard trunk where their weight enhances boat balance and stability under sail. Boat balance and handling are further enhanced by elimination of the transom mounted outboard motor which normally puts about 60lbs of weight on one corner of the transom. Batteries are charged by a boom gallows mounted 55watt Kyocera solar panel which charges the batteries anytime daylight is available. A Sunsaver 6 solar panel charge controller provides proper 4 step charging of the batteries preventing overcharge and optimizing battery life. Battery charge level can be checked with a push of a button on a Minn Kota battery monitor mounted in the cockpit just below the navigation light panel. A red LED on this panel glows any time the solar panel is providing charge. This boat is featured on The Sailboat Company's homepage at http://www.ipass.net/sailboat/ then click on Do It Yourself on the left side of the homepage. The Sailboat Company of North Carolina is one of the most active and innovative Com Pac Yacht dealers in the US. Picture #1 is of the actual boat moored at our UP summer home on Lk Michigan Picture #2 is the deck mounted Fortress anchor Picture #3 shows the factory stainless boarding ladder installation Picture #4 shows the cockpit mounted Saturn compass. That's the navigation light panel to the left. Picture was taken berfore battery monitor was installed. Picture #5 is a better shot of the light control panel. Picture #6 shows the Minn-Kota motor control box. Center knob position is motor off. As you rotate the knob clockwise from center the drive motor runs faster and faster in forward. As you rotate the knob counterclockwise from center the drive motor runs faster and faster in reverse. The motor control box can be held and operated with one hand while you steer with the other hand and your eyes remain focussed forward at docks, other boats etc rather than reaching and looking over the stern to operate an outboard motor. Picture #7 shows the Min Kota RT55EM motor mounted on the shoal keel via a 3/8" thick aluminum bracket. The motor is tucked in behind the shoal keel where it is well protected from potential impact damage. It has no effect on trailer usage or board up draft of 1 foot 2 inches. Picture #8 shows placement of the 2 Optima batteries in the cockpit under the companionway step. The little black box to the left of the batteries is the Sun Saver 6 charge controller. The small object to the right of the batteries is a 60amp circuit breaker which protects the wiring from short circuit and allows a convienient way to shut off the battery power in the boat. Picture #9 shows the Minn Kota battery monitor mounted beneath the nav lights panel. Pictures #10, 11 show the boom gallows mounted solar panel. Picture #12 is a stock picture of a Suncat under sail. This boat is currently garaged in Port Huron Twp Michigan and can be shown by appointment. Please E-mail any questions. It is for sale to US bidders payable in US dollars only. I have set a very low reserve on the boat. I would like a $500.00 deposit from widding bidder within 48hrs of close of auction. Balance is payable by certified check or cash in person within seven days of auction close. It is local pickup only, no delivery, no shipping unless you arrange it. Titles are free and clear and on hand for both boat and trailer. I reserve the right to cancel the auction as the boat is for sale locally.
