1980 Prindle 16 & Prindle 18- Two boats package deal Vehicle Description Welcome to my auction. I have two boats for sale- a 1980 Prindle 16 and a 1980 Prindle 18. I have one trailer for both boats. I have changed all the lights and wiring on it, all brand new last fall. New tires too. Both boats are the same width- 8 feet and both fit on the trailer, you can take either one to the lake or the ocean. Prindle 16- VIN: SUR04296M80K Orange hull bottoms, ivory top of hulls, black trampoline, red, orange, yellow, white sails. This is the one I bought first, I spent $1400 on it two years ago. The hulls are rock-solid, no soft spots or cracks. They need some small scratches filled and buffing, but excellent shape. The trampoline has a small area of stitching undone, can be easily repaired. I have changed the way the trampoline is attached to the hulls to a better system and it does last much longer this way. The boat comes with a speedometer, attached to one of the port hole covers. The sensor is not attached yet, but included. I had a temporary setup just to see how fast it could go and with 2 people, without outrigging it reached 18MPH in fair winds. The boat is an absolute blast, all new ropes and hardware, the rudders work nice, the mast is nice and straight, and most important- the masts on both boats are hermetically sealed. This means the boat will not turtle, when capsized, the masts reach a floating point about half of their length and you can right the boats very easily. There is a righting rope attached to the trampoline, close to the bottom of the mast and stored in one of the pockets. The sails are is good shape, no tears, the battens on the mainsail are all good and original, missing a couple of tail tales, but nice shape. The zipper of the jib works fine. The boat has a single trapeze setup and 1 harness is included. This boat has asymmetrical hulls and therefore- no dagger boards, which makes it easy to setup and pull out on the beach. A true beach catamaran! Prindle 18- VIN: SUR00762M80J White hull bottoms, blue top of hulls. This is my second boat, I was going to restore it and use both, but went with another catamaran instead. The hulls are rock solid, no cracks or soft spots. They need to be buffed or re-coated. This boat has no trampoline(replacement can be purchased from www.slosails.com for $285). The sails have a few rips, around the bottom of the batten pockets( the previous owner must have never checked how tight the battens were, they came out of the plastic pockets on the bottom and ripped the sail). The sails can be repaired for around $200, which is my latest quote. Any reputable local sail shop can wash and repair them easily. I have not checked the complete rig-up of this boat, it might be missing a shackle or two here and there, all small stuff that doesn't cost much. The mast is in excellent shape, the rudders have been brush-painted and need sanding. Owners manuals for both boats can be downloaded from Performance Catamarans website. I will include all the literature that I have for both boats, as well as bunch of spare parts, rope and hardware. This is an excellent chance to get 2 fun boats that work with 1 trailer, the 16 for rough seas and the 18 for speeding on the lakes and making fun of the hobbie cats!
