17 w/wings & HyPerf Sail
Hobie Cat 17 in excellent condition: + The boat is titled as a 1986 and has been updated. + Both hulls were professionally repaired (at the trailer cradels) and structurally reinforced then painted with a colortron matched PPG system. The hulls are good as or better then new with some internal foam added and both port assemblies are new - one port in each hull. + New sail 2008 - all white with logo per photos (economic stimulus money - I stimulated a sail loft in San Deigo) comes with a bag supplied by the loft. The sail is a Whirlwind (http://www.whirlwindsails.com/h17.htm#superr%20square) Square R white polyester that currently sells for $1,050.00. A high performance square head with modern panel layout complete with battens used about 20 times. + One piece mesh main trampoline (Salty Dog) - these are really nice because they shed wave water more quickly then original equipment, this feature also helps for less impact on the boat of waves crashing through from underneath especially when heeled and single pontoon sailing so the boat can drive through the chop more smoothly. Also no center lacing for fast passage under the boom when tacking or jibing. Has a large pocket built-in near the mast foot for sheets etc. + Mesh wing trampolines (Salty Dog). Note per the photos the wing seat pipes have been rebuilt. The lower portion of each tube was used as a liner to permanently seal the hulls at the seat posts of some minor leaks when I received the boat. A galvanized steel internal pipe was added for the wing seats and they work excellent. The boat can be sailed with or without the wings seats and heels higher with them off. These can handle ± 3 people and max out around 400 lbs - see manual. They can also be used as a hiking platforms for those who like to push the envelope. + Competition mast tip with a flotation bulb (so the boat won't turtle - Ebay $100.00). Note it is the swivel type and points to the wind with a tell tail. Expertly mounted with SS screws/clear marine adhesive etc. + Previous owner (who bought the boat new) replaced the entire rigging and the new gear has seen minimal use, sailed 30 times or so, mostly moderate load. + EPO (epoxy) rudders - the latching was adjusted and now works very well. These are deep rudders and can be flip easily on the fly for shallow conditions. + Harken blocks + Spectra lite main sheets, all the lines are in very good condition and can be used for years to come. + Single trapeze (one cable each side and comes with a second set) with "can't miss" handles. + Arriba hot stick telescopic rudder handle + Stretch righting system (thick & black with shackles to secure on each rudder pin and the line goes around the mast and wing seats, tip-up is easy with one sailor on the hull and another in the water pushing up on the mast). + One piece marine canvas storage system with zippered hulls (Salty Dog). Note the picture, this is really nice setup, has some ware but very useable, all the zippers work etc. both hulls, the tramp and wing seats are covered for protection from the elements during storage. + The whole boat is in great shape with many updated details including new "O" ring seals at the hull/bilge drains and so on. + Clear WI boat title - (cash and carry), trailer title also included but was never transfered from previous owner, trailers this size in WI don't need separate registration or title. + Sailed on inland fresh water only. + Manual and parts guide included. + WI registration paid until March 2010. Galvanized Catamaran Trailer included: + Galvanized wheels with 10" flotation tires (wide so they can handle beach sand and it is easy for one man to move the trailer (boat on or off) around in a yard with hitch wheel down). + Bow mast cradle on a steel pipe welded to the tongue (the base of the mast sits in a caddy for trailer-ing - see addt'l equipment). + Set of four hull cradles (genuine Hobie Cat, not rollers that can damage the hulls on a long bumpy haul) + 4 point tie downs (IMMI) + Easy fold up tongue wheel + Lockable pipe storage bin for sail, boom and main rigging. Buyer provides their own paddle lock. + All the lights work and the whole trailer is in excellent shape, upgraded to a 2" hitch. Additional Equipment: +One (adult) life jacket - although a bit tattered in one spot per the photo + One full set and one partial set of main SS rigging (stay and bridle wires) + Collapsing anchor that fits in a hull port + One internal port mitten (like a sleeve that can registration card etc.) + Clevis pins, shackles, rudder pins, at $5.00 per item - about $60.00 total to replace + Comes with the equipment to add a jib sail except for the furler and associated stay including the blocks and rails to be fastened to the front crossbar (Ebay ± $56.00) + Red sail bag as pictured. + Stern mast cradle (that clamps to the rear cross bar and the mast - works great for transport and storage). + Small canoe paddle that lashes to the tramp if the wind dies. Other notes: + Boat has two center boards that kick-up when beached. + Both decks near the ports have been reinforced using solid foam blocks and expanding automotive "great stuff". Works great and provides deck stiffness for feet when in the trapeze. Harness not included, I use one for wind surfing. Kite-boarding would work well too. + This boat doesn't really need anything, the mainsail clew has been recently bees-waxed and it is ready to sail. + Short instruction of rigging is offered upon pickup. + The hulls are completely leak proof (checked just last week). + This is not a boat for the inexperienced, it sails excellent and is built for hardy sailors that can handle it particularly if the wind kicks up. + Cash and carry, no checks, non-refundable $300.00 Ebay/Paypal deposit ($125.00 of that for Ebay if buyer defaults) required within 24 hours of auction end (the balance over the deposit must be in cash upon pickup, no paypal for the balance). Pickup must be within one calendar week of auction end or boat will be resold - no refund of deposit. Seller will deliver up to maximum 100 miles radius of Cedarburg WI (200 miles total round trip) for $0.60 per mile traveled. + Note the wing seats are rotated from side to side for storage and trailering. + Too many toys to keep up with - this one has to go! + See Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5mzDFJ7Aig - for a great demo!!! Same model boat only without the jib foresail, but a high performance main. Well that got a little long but I like to be thorough and this is a great sailboat! Thx for looking and bidding if you choose! Also have a Hobie 16 mast for sale - see "view sellers other items". More... |
