Here are some tips. It sounds like you stand-up fish. If you are stand-up fishing you will not want you rods longer than 6'. Also, make sure you rods have wind-on guides. Wind-on's are gaining popularity and I don't think this will stop anytime soon. Another decision to make is if you want curved butts or strait butts. If you go with the uni-butt or stora-butt system then you can switch if you decide you like one better. I highly recommend the stora-butt system because you can store the reels in very small compartments in your boat (less prone to theft).

Capt D...I've fished Chaos rods offshore, they are horrible. I have a few friends who run charter boats who bought them and fished them, a week later they were for sale. They are built well and look great using good components, but they load horrible!!! The sad part was the one guy was going to get them for little or nothing since he was going to be sponsored and he called them said they can have them back he doesn't want their logo or rods on his boat. I was less then impressed with them on an 80lb tuna. It felt nice until the fish was hooked. For anyone who goes offshore, not buying custom is a mistake, even if you only make a few trips a year. I only run my boat offshore maybe 4-5 times a year, but go on friends boats a few more. I bought custom because I will own my gear a while and once your already spending a lot, a few more bucks is not that bad for the great customization and the way better quality. The funny part is many custom rods are in the same price range as store bought rods, some customs can even be cheaper or the same.
