Jarvis Walker Rods??
Was at Dick's Sporting Goods and saw some Jarvis Walker rods. They were decent deep drop rods with aluminum oxide eyes 50 pound class and they were only $49.99. I was going to try Daiwa Deep Drop rods that are $149.00 each. Just was wondering if anyboby has ever tried these rods and how well did they hold up.

i have used teh jarvis rod and for the short money its a good rod. i have used them for mostly striper fishing and have had shimano reels go before those rods. im not sure about the heavier stuff but the rods to 40lbs are a good buy.

A buddy of mine picked up a Jarvis Walker spinning rod and reel. Both fell apart within a year. Actually, the first reel fell apart within a day. The tackle shop warrantied it.
I realize this is not the same as what you're looking at, and it's only one experience. YMMV, but the components appear to be of very poor quality. I'd be concerned about tossing out 30% of the purchase price of a known, quality manufacturer's product.
