38ft 1986 Young Brothers Fishing Boat Downeast Cruiser Vehicle Description 38' 1986 Young Brothers Lobster Fishing Boat / Cruiser - Documented. NO RESERVE ! The title is something of a misnomer as this boat has never been used for fishing and was used solely as a pleasure craft. Only 1407 hrs total time. Volvo TAMD60C Turbocharged/After-Cooled 250 hp diesel. Sips a measly 2. 5 gal per hr at 1600 rpm at 9 kts.. Top speed: 14 kts with cage and appox 16 kts without the cage. 2" bronze shaft with Cutlass Bearing... Class II Hydroslave steering. Manual Searchlight, Stainless Steel Cage, Twin Disc MG506 Transmission, Fresh Water Keel Cooled, All Stainless Steel Dry Exhaust. Aqua Drive shaft isolation. Finished off with 2 bunks, storage cabinets, Stainless Sink, Wood/Coal stove, 80 gal Fresh Water, 160 gal diesel fuel... Electronics includes a basic Raytheon Pathfinder 12mile Radar, Furuno FAP-50 Autopilot, 2 GPS units (Raytheon & Garmin), Furuno Loran as backup, Sounder, & 2-VHF transceivers. This boat was built tough as a lobster boat to commercial standards by Philip Lash of Friendship, ME. Though used solely as a pleasure craft and never lobstered, it's a simple conversion to a Commercial Lobster Boat by merely adding a hauler and a davit... or makes a splendid Downeast no frills Cruiser which is how I used it. . Somewhat spartan by DownEast Cruiser standards, but the emphasis was on having a tough seaworthy boat. It would however make a great starting point for a complete makeover into a luxury Downeast Cruiser that would be both tough AND elegant !Needs some minor wood trim repair and some gel coat touch up, but nothing that should take anything over 2 weekends to get done (even at my age !). Once completed, you'll have a very low hours boat for minimal cost. The important components (engine, transmission, hull and steering) perform as new, and are for practical purposes, hardly yet "broken in". Boat is currently out of the water and sitting in the driveway in Waldoboro, Maine. Inspections are welcomed. Phil Lash the original builder, estimated to have it built today would take $150 to $180k... Having seen new construction costs and prices for solid oak, engines and transmissions alone, I have no reason to doubt his estimate... You may never again find another 38 ft 1986 Young Brothers boat in such good condition with so few hours at this no reserve opening bid. It is being offered far below market value. Terms of Sale Boat and it's accessories are being sold in As Is condition. Payment Serious bidders only.... A $300 deposit paid via PayPal is due within 48 hours of the winning bid.
