38' 1986 Young Bros Lobster Boat Vehicle Description 38' 1986 Young Brothers Lobster Boat. The title is something of a misnomer as this boat has never Lobstered and was used solely as a pleasure craft, but would be an easy conversion by modifying the house and installing a hauler... Low Reserve ! Lash built. Only 1407 hrs tt. Volvo TAMD60C Turbocharged/After Cooled 250 hp diesel. Sips a measly 2. 5 gal per hr at 1600 rpm at 9 kts.. Top speed: 14 kts with cage and appox 16 kts without the cage. Full electronics including a basic Raytheon Pathfinder 12mile Radar, Furuno Autopilot, GPS (2), Loran, Sounder, & 2-VHF. 2" bronze shaft, Manual Searchlight, Cutlass Bearing. Stainless Steel Cage, Twin Disc MG506 Transmission, Fresh Water Keel Cooled, Stainless Steel Dry Exhaust. Aqua Drive shaft isolation. Finished off with 2 bunks, storage and Stainless sink. 80 gal Fresh Water, 160 gal fuel.. This boat was built strong to commercial standards by Philip Lash of Friendship, ME. Simple conversion to a Commercial Lobster Boat or makes a splendid Downeast Cruiser which is how I used it. . Somewhat spartan by DownEast Cruiser standards, but the emphasis was on having a tough boat - not a luxury yacht ! Needs some minor woodworking repair: The oak strip just inside the sliding glass door needs replacing or fiberglass repair. That is the only area where water got in and rotted the oak trim strip.. The strip is non-structural and to replace it, one only needs to bolt a new oak replacement strip back in it's place.. Window seals require rebedding in sealant, some minor sanding and gel-coating to bring it back to as new condition... The saltwater shutoff valve requires replacing. . . I should also note that the lexan sliding window is crazed and needs either replacing or buffing out with compound. This is all pretty minor and could be easily dealt with over 4 days or 2 weekends. The important components (engine, drivetrain, hull and steering) are for practical purposes, hardly yet "broken in". Boat is currently out of the water and sitting in the driveway in Waldoboro, Maine; ready for inspection which is highly recommended.
