I had the same thing happen last summer when I taco'd one of my taco's on a piling while launching at my town dock on DEAD low tide.

And here's the solution, Taco headquarters is located in Georgia

They were awesome~ a few bucks and I had a whole new pole base (mine tweaked very close to the base)

Mailed me directions how to fix it, mailed the collar and sleeve hardware....I fixed it in a few minutes

Where'd you tweak yours?

You 'could' cut off the bad section and just make it a little shorter
