    WTB- Fire Hydrant

Hey all, my brother is retiring from the local Va Beach Fire Dept as a battalion chief next month after 31 years and I am in need of a hydrant that I am planning on having painted up really nice for him for a retirement gift. I have been trying to find one for over a month now and have not had any luck. Does anyone have any ideas where I might even try to look for one??? Trying to keep it under wraps a bit so if there are any VBFD guys on SFC please dont rat me out!! Thanx for any help- craig

Let me look tomorrow and make sure its still there. If not I may be able to get you one. You might want to try contacting somebody from the water co, thats where I got mine. It was a used one they replaced.

Yeah I would def try someone from the township/water dept.
I have a friend that works for the township and he has like 4 or 5 sitting in his back yard that I could get for you, But I'm also in NJ.

B C Thats cool you're honoring a man for service to his community. I bet the local public works folks would think so too. Find their yard and they may give you one.Bessings.

Hey all, thanx for all the leads- i am going to try our local public works/water folks before i spend a lot in fuel traveling up the coast . I was thinking that the fire dept. controlled these things and didnt lind them with public works (water, duh) What I want to do and I will post a picture after I take one is the hydrant is painted and clear coated with flames on it. The one that gave me the idea is really nice, I guess you can compare it to a custom cycle or car flame job. He is retiring from the city dept only to take on a fed job investigating f/f's deaths around the country. I will b-mail a couple of you guys if I dont find one in another week or so. Again, I really appreciate all the responses- Craig
