Lowrance LCX-26. Just replaced my old globalmap with it. Awesome unit for its size. Picture quality is great . has built in hard drive with Nautic Path. Hard to be for the $$. And you can read the screen, !!

If you have the room and the bones, I would go for the Furuno GP1900C. Awesome display, easy to use, and you can add a radar later if you want. Otherwise, I have run the Lowrance listed above and it is a great little unit. I like the Furuno 10 fold more though!

I agree with Capt. Logan ...... Furuno 1900 or the 1850 Its a split screen Bottom machine, gps and you can add radar. You can also find recond. units if your looking to save some money. But I use a northstar on my rig and in my opinion is top of the line but , pricey

    Raymarine

I put a c-120 combo on my boat this year and got rid of the RL70RC 4 kw radar/plotter and a L1250 sounder. I have to tell you the graphics with the DSM-300 added are amazing. I am really satisfied with this unit. The guys with the E series are extremely happy. Had I wanted to spend the extra bucks I would have went for the E series but at around $1500 plus the open array I am extremely happy. I have had many different units from the Northstars to simrads, Garmin, Lowrance and this by far is one of if not the best I have had. Very reasonably priced and now you can pick up the re-mans and save a bunch with a new warrantee.

Go with a Furuno or Northstar...you won't regret it, only costs a little more to buy the best.

    Furuno or Raymarine

You two main choices are Furuno and Raymarine..

Raymarine just started another Rebate where you get up to 500.00 back if you select the proper package...

Furuno is about to release a digital sounder module that will equal Raymarines DSM300

I personally like that I can build the Ray to my specs where you have to chose display size and radar power up front from Furuno...

If I can assist let me know....
