I would love to do a little product testing on one of those fine looking rods. Like I say, I've only caught salmon on them. They should truely shine when hooked up to the big meat. The harder the pull the more they ought to perform. |

I'm interested in how they would work offshore also....
I've never noticed torque when I'm fighting anything with a rod belt or chair when the gimbal is locked in.....if it pops out then I've gotten suprised a few times....wonder if this would eliminate that chance of it happening. There is a local builder who is pushing that style for flounder rods big time and swears by them. Good price for the sticks with SIC guides.... |

Sublime..with heavy ACID rods you dont need gimbal..the rod is stable..using a gimbal with pin keeps any rod lined up..BUT conventional rods the line STILL want to go UNDER the blank stressing the guides which can cause failure...i have built ALOT of fluke/tog sticks that way its the only way to go
...if you are looking for a GREAT fluke/flounder rod/blank check the sale board Those LAMI's are AWESOME..

AA guides
Youngsaltydog...those are some nice looking rods. Very nice detail work.
Paul, I build quite a few "Roberts" wrapped rods for freshwater use, and have a couple spiral wrapped bailing rods on my own boat, but don't see anyone using them in the saltwater down here...yet! Joe |
