Switlik Life Raft - 6 man

Switlick MD2 Valise ^ man raft. Produced in 06. Purchased from LSRE in RI and current list is $5,195.00 It weighs 84 pounds. Here's the spec's

Designed for offshore use, the MD-2 is Switlik's most popular life raft. Its inflation system, buoyancy chamber material, seam construction, and ballast system, are all identical to those in Switlik's USCG/SOLAS approved life rafts.
A rigid boarding step at the primary entrance, in addition to boarding ladders at both entrances, facilitates climbing up and into the raft from the water. Twin "Gull-Wing" doors make it easier to jump into the raft from higher freeboard vessels and the large triangular openings provide excellent ventilation with 360o lookout capability.

Extra large reinforced ballast pockets exceed the USCG/SOLAS volume requirements. Internal weights help them fill rapidly.

The MD-2 life raft meets current US Sailing ORC Regulations for Category 1 and 2 events. US Sailing recommends that life rafts be equipped with insulated floors for events that take place in waters of less than 68o F, (20oC).

Vin must be sleeping...it's after 9pm...LOL

I remember a bunch of threads last spring (March/April 2008) where guys were chiming in about repack costs~

Can't remember but think it's like 500-900 bucks for a raft that size with all the extras

That's right in the range with the $900 being if you need to replace a lot of the contents (water, food, etc.) AND a hydrostatic test of the bottle. Most rafts are on a 3-year inspection cycle unless you're commercial which the regs require a repack every year.
