    Roddy's 5th Lure thread

Yes folks, time for more lures. There may even be more but they won't surface for a while. Should be something here to whet your appetite though.

You know the rules by now : always reply to this thread HERE, and please list the item number if you want to buy. First come first served. No offers - final. No PM's - if you have something to say, say it here. If you send me a PM about items for sale on here then I probably won't reply to them. Level playing field for all. If you want more info or photos, ask me here. If something does not sell or generate interest I may offer it again with a different price, or I may remove it at any time and put it elsewhere. If something is sold I will try and edit the post asap to reflect that that item is no longer for sale. Payment by Paypal, and you will pay the postage !!!! A single lure costs about $5 to send somewhere in the US.

Item #001 - TRAWLITE teaser with Newell skirts, 1991 (used). A big 17" lure with a 4" concave face, this beast really does push water in a most dramatic, throbbing fashion, and it raises fish too. We actually used it as a lure in Madeira a few times and caught a 900lb blue with it. $20

    __________________________

Item #003 - SUPER-PLUNGER by Black Bart, 1996, (used). Underskirt only, un-signed, made for Bart by Big T. $25

    __________________________

Item #004 - THRILLER by Big T, 1992 (used). This odd shaped lure was the lure we used on our short corner when we first went to Madeira. It worked well enough that we went through about 20 or so in our first two years, and they did catch a lot of fish. It's a very good lure off the rod-tip and this particular one, lightly weighted, would be a very good lure for a small boat and a flat wake. $20

    __________________________

    Item #009 - THREE LURES

UNKNOWN, circa 1993 (lightly used). A small splash bait (9" long) left by a client. Runs good.

    PLUS

SOFTIE by Big T, 2004, lightly used. I'm not a fan of soft-heads really, so never gave this 12" bait much swim-time. Probably best off the rod-tip.

    PLUS

slightly bigger SOFTIE by Big T, 2004, (light use).

    $25 for all three lures

Item #012 - small SQUAT by Proteus lures, 1989, used. This little unbecoming lure was actually a cult bait in the UK. Made by Stephen Hill during the late 80's, it was one of his range of lures that were all that the early UK anglers to the Azores were able to buy without coming to the USA. All of his range caught a lot of fish in the east Atlantic and Africa, but the Squat was a simple, easy to use lure that worked exceptionally well. A very tight bubble trial, and great on the rigger. One of these little lures was the bait which a 16' monster blue marlin ate off the Desertas (Madeira) in 1990 - the story of that fish can be read here : http://www.sportfishermen.com/2008/0...-i-have-known/ $25

    __________________________

Item #013 - SKIPPER by Proteus Lures, 1989 (abused). This was another popular bait from Hill's range, and as a rigger lure it also caught a great deal of fish. This particular lure has not been run since an encounter with an Anguillan wahoo. It needs a little love...... $15

    __________________________

Item #014 - RIGGER bait by Black Bart, 1996, used. A forerunner of the Warrior, this bait has slightly more angle and taper in the nose. Made for Bart by Big T in 1996. $25

    __________________________

Item #017 - STRAIGHT TUBE by Marlin Magic, 1995 (lightly used). Classic bait, you know what to do with it ! $30

    __________________________

Item #019 - UNKNOWN, 1993 (unused). I had four of these little lures (8" long) pressed into my hand at a boat show. Regretfully, I don't know who made them as the other three have all gone to heaven. Someone has said that they may have been made by John Cochrane. All I know is they run well and catch plenty of fish after you rig them with decent skirts. $15

    __________________________

Item #020 - SPRINGER by Big T, 1994 (lightly used). A hacksaw by any other name, this is a great long rigger bait, and with an uncentred-hole this lure runs in almost any weather. It was a staple in our spread through the last years of my stay in Madeira, and I also used them in Midway and the Caribbean with good success - it also proved to be a surprisingly effective bait in the Azores when I was there. $20

All the other items I have had for sale have been removed and can now be found on e-Bay. Thank you Mary, for your help there !

I think #19 is a SCH. Some rumours say it's the only lure worthy of being put in the water in NC.

I'll take #10 the strait tube , #11 the Dingo and #22 grander candy if you'll post to the UK?
I'd also love an Enki if you have another one?
