Franky, you want to clarify that sign in the corner, it looks like a good story.

Since I wanted to bump the ad anyway, here is the story behind the sign.
Dad drives a 1993 Licoln Mark VIII, that I affectionately refer to as the sloppy jaloppy. He loves that car, but it is/was beginning to show its age. Anyhow he was at a wawa getting gas and on his way out of the parking lot when he got t-boned by a big fat lady talking on her cell phone. Cop witnessed it, whole place witnessed it, and dad was too damned honest to suffer whiplash!!! Anhyhow, long story short, the car was totalled, and rather than taking his insurance money and going to the pick up dealership, he now has a bright shiny paint job on the sloppy jaloppy, which I am now referring to as the shiny jaloppy![]()
And now for the shameless bump. The chair is still for sale, and can be seen in person at the MHC Yacht Basin. I wuld like nothing more than to sell this chair to a nice person in NC. C'mon any takers?????
Is that a Pompanette Unlimited class?
I was getting ready to bump this and saw your question skipper, when it was new it was called a Jumbo International, so probably the same thing, just different name.
The chair is still in MHC on the boat. We will be bringing the boat back to OC in the first week of April. Any of you NC boys that need a chair it is ready to go!!
We refinish our chairs with clear awlgrip..deeper look and tougher than varnish..bit more $$$..but well worth the effort and money as it lasts longer..IMHO..
In a private boat application I have to agree that awlgrip is the way to go. On a charterboat app like mine, I like the varnish as it is more "forgiving" when it comes time to spot in an area where a guy slams the rod butt into the seat or other such events. It seems like i am having to make spot "fixes" throughout the summer. Awl grip is more durable as far as sunlight and general element abuse, but it still won't take a rod butt to the seat.
For a while didn't Release finish their chairs with West system?? anyone?
DOES THE ROCKET LAUNCHER LYING ON THE DECK COME WITH?
No, the rocket launcher does not, sorry. Boat is in MHC for one more week, then we are bringing her home to OC.
All this talk about fighting chairs here recently. still for sale, getting ready to go to ebay later this week
West System (and most other epoxies) aren't UV stabilized. If you want a tough finish though, put 2 coats of West System - First one to fill the grain, second one to smooth everything out. Lightly sand as smooth as you have the patience for, then 3 - 6 coats of spar varnish.
