Is there anyone out there that is making modern blanks for the Greener Harpoon Gun, It is a 38 necked down blank that my gun shoots, if not could someone give me the specs for reloading the old ones ?
They arent necked down (that means the case goes to a smaller diameter), They are crimped down and waxed (just to close the front end).38 special blank. I have seen them made by Kynoch. Im not sure of the powder charge but it is a high power cartridge. You could try reg .38 spl blanks which you can buy from any good gun shop, but they may not be powerful enough.
I found the necked down version sorry about that I had never seen that version before only the straight Kynoch cartridge. Does this look familiar? Its a 14 gr powder charge if you have old cartridges you would have to get a die set made but that isnt to hard. I dont know if I would have it bored out as you mentioned in your PM. Those guns seem to be worth quite a bit. Plus from my research they used a large grain powder to slow the burn to get the heavy harpoon moving correctly. Running modern blanks with fast burn powder may be OK but they may not and they may not have the correct powder charge. The original cartridge was produced by the Kynoch Factories of Imperial Chemical Industries Limited, Metals Division, Witton, Birmingham, England for W.W. Greener LTD. Gun, Rifle, and Cartridge Makers London and Birmingham. I hope this helps the company may still be in business and may have the information you need.

I assume that you run these in a block that runs into the chamber? try any good movie or theater supplier, these are normally used on set or back stage, you are certain that it is .38spl not .38s&w blanks? If it is .38spl then use .357 cases with the crimping and necking it will not matter that they are a ball hair longer, and you will get more shots per case, from that brass. Will rcbs not make you dies?? If you do nothing else e mail the DUDES www.wwgreener.com/index.html
They will tell all and shame the devil
