Fighting Chair

A friend came up with this idea which may help with space on my boat. I am running a 96 24' Albemarle with the motor box at the transom and was thinking of putting a small chair on top to gain fighting room. Anyone got any ideas for some cheaper but quality chairs.

Careful with any chair on engine box. I have fond memories of watching one disappear. Box, angler, outfit, chair... all in a blink. Todd chairs makes a compact one they mount on a quad base which you could pelican hook in place. That way its protable too and the quad base will disburse the weight...

Most important is keeping the pedestal low. High center of gravity can tear stuff out with the torque...

Thanks, I was thinking low since it would be up on a motor box.

Could always chain down the motor box to the floor LOL

Actually I am thinking about modifying my engine box a bit to make something like on this gentleman's boat in Texas (another F233 by the way, lol, a '72)...

Fin my motor box looks to be about the same size as that picture, just wonder if a chair would hold up after adding some extra metal struts under the motor cover so he could be out of the way for the gaff man

My god, your '96 Albie is a twin to Dick's (gentleman from Texas) '72 F233 hehehe ...... even has the same sloped inner mold along the cockpit! Mine is straight on my '74, but I just noticed the slopes.....UNCANNY LOL

I don't know how the box would hold up to a CHAIR, but I know a small "fighting station" such as is pictured should hold up fine.

My friend use to have a 24 Albemarle with a chair on his engine box. It was a small Lee's tuna chair. He renforced the box and I believe he change or added a diffrent latch. He fought GBFT from it. There is also a book called "fish the chair if you dare" He explains alot about chairs mounted on a box or the gunnel. For the chair it self look for a used one they always seem to pop up.
