Boat: 36' Hatteras Convertible

28' Phoenix Express

A friend of the family has this boat in his yard and he needs it gone. He was asking $500.00, but it could probably be negotiated down a lot. I haven't inspected it, but I know that one of the engines is no good. HIN indicates it's a 1977.

It's a nice boat and it seems like crime to let it go to the shredder. It's located on Long Island if anybody's interested.

How Soon?

Well, I'll put it to you this way. I took those pictures on Sunday. Sombody else here already contacted the owner about it and just informed me that the outriggers and pulpit are already in the dumpster.

It's in Amityville, I assume a pair of V-8 gas engines, don't know what kind. How much does a 28ft express with gassers weigh? 8,000 lbs.?

As I stated earlier, I'm trying to help out a friend and save a nice boat. I'm not intimately familiar with the details of the boat. If you're seriously interested shoot me a PM and I'll give you the contact information. I just don't like putting people's info on the web. You never know who's looking.

It's not a typo, if that's what you mean.

If you're thinking of value, well, it's a 1977 and it needs an engine. As an economic question, no boat is an investment. But if you're competent with a wrench you could have a nice, capable fishing boat without shelling out a lot of cash.

I had the convertible version - it is one hell of a tank. Might not be the sexiest boat out there, but built tough - it would be easy to slap a bracket on and rig it for outboards.
