Most people's problem with it seems to be the cost of transportation. Since all the lookers so far have been from out of state and need to pay somebody to transport it for them. It makes the total aquisition cost more than they would pay for a boat in this condition.
Remember, it's a 32 year-old boat. Even if it hasn't been abused it hasn't been kept in showroom condition either. Expect scratches, dings, and broken and missing parts like you'd expect to find on any older boat. AFAIK the hull is solid. One member told me the owner advised him that the cockpit decking, which appears to be mostly hatches, has soft spots. So there's probably plywood coring that needs to be replaced. Next time I'm there I'll look into this further. Please don't expect to make money on this (like you can do that with a boat ) It's not an investment. It's just an opportunity to pick up a decent boat for cheap, do some fixing-up and have a good fishing platform.

Update
I got to the yard yesterday and looked at the decking. There's a center hatch that is fine, but the decking around it is springy particularly along the transom. Otherwise the structure appears to be sound. This is a solid glass hull, not cored. So the hull shouldn't have any such issues.
Access for removing the engine is good, with no cabin or other structure in the way, it's a straight-up pick to get it out. I would consider pulling the heads in place to see if the short block actually needs to come out. Even if it does, having the heads off will make it easier. If I had a place to keep it I would grab it myself, but there's a 36 ft convertible in my parking space. Somebody needs to save this thing. Last edited by Avenger; 10-07-2009 at 06:38 PM. It was still there when I was at the yard this morning, but I didn't get a chance to talk to the owner. Check your PMs for contact information.
I'm not really sure about what would be involved in trailering it, but I'll try to gather some information for you. I know it's almost 10 ft wide, and the tower would probably have to come off to avoid collecting foliage, traffic lights and bridges. There are cranes in the yard, and a travelift right next door so getting the tower off and the boat on a trailer shouldn't be an issue. |

Just Think,
With a little bit of time, elbow grease, etc, etc, etc. Strip her all the way down, re-wire, drop a couple of 210-250 hp Cummin's B's in her. Ride in style. May not be worth anything to someone else, but who care's. You'd know what you got, till you got tired or too old to fish anymore. You can't look at pleasure's in life as investment's, gotta have fun while you're here. None of us is leaving alive. Go For It!!!! Frank
