Zero Stress Fly Fishing Tournament
This week Aqua Adventures Panama hosted the Zero Stress Fly Fishing Tournament in Panama. The participating anglers were Wayne Cecil, Lynn Gregory, Mike Trotter, Phil Dattilo, Bob Blair, and Fern Elufson. The beginning of the week was a bit slow, possibly due to an unusually wet weather pattern. Even with slow fishing, sails and dorados were raised and a few sails were released. Thursday the bite turned on, and we enjoyed a good day of fishing with all three boats raising many billfish and dorados. The fish were hungrier as well, and took flys more eagerly resulting in more released fish. Several nice roosters were also released this week on conventional gear, along with a couple of triple tails.
Congratulations to Lynn Gregory for the most sails released on flys, with six. Congratulations to Fern Elufson for her catch of a striped marlin on a fly! Stripes are very rare in these waters, and catching one here on a fly is a great accomplishment. Way to go Fern!
Thanks to everyone who participated in the tournament, it was a great time. Special thanks to Mike Trotter of Baranof Lodge in Alaska for making it all possible.
