AND YOU THOUGHT SHE LOOKED GOOD IN VELVET

Well wait till you see her in Drum...

Today started out as many do with the 45 minute drive to the fishing grounds, the big difference is our very own "fishon" here on the board, my adopted little sister, so pick up you jaws and wipe the drool off your keyboards...

The conversation and music flowed so well that I went by the ice house and had to make a detour to get some and that put us at the ramp at 0800. Loaded the boat with enough rods to start a tackle shop and Fishon said she wanted to use the fly rod as much as she could today so out came my 7wt Colton fly rod and Fishon, on the bow to get the line stretched out for the day.

With a solid stance on the deck and a little correction with her cast, 50 and 60 footers were banged out over and over again. As we worked the first cove, I saw a swirl and what I thought was a tail and as well as about other fish and turned the boat toward them. Fishon started her false casting and on the last one, caught the grass of the marsh island behind her. A gentle tug said that we would have to go get it, so I backed the boat up and as I went to clear it with the push pole, and wacked the windshield with the pole, the school bowed up and went deep in the 3' of water. For me to have seen the fish tail, they must have been 36 to 40" fish. Oh well, on to the next point, it is fishing.

Two points later, I see a wink and then another. I get Fishon in the right direction but the school splits and moves to the left and her fly lands between the 2 pods of fish. Get her to recast to here left. " Drop it in the middle of the school and they will eat" I said and the fly lands on command in the middle of the school. She strips the line once and there is a large wake behind the fly, she strips the line again and there is a huge boil and she comes tight with the first Red Drum of the day.

Being greedy, I through a spinning rod but blow it as I still have the polling pole in my other hand. The heck with that and the pole it put down, anchor dropped and I make the mad dash for the camera, now I am so glad I did...

The first Drum of the day...

I love this shot, he has this WTF look...

He turned out to be a rather feisty guy that did not want to give up...

Yep, still fighting and kicking...

There is nothing like a good hole in the water...

And finely comes to hand...it was very hard to pick a couple of pictures, so you guys have to look at an bunch...think she is happy...

Don't think we were having a good time do ya...

A kiss of thanks...

Yep, look close guys, there is a fish in thei picture...

What else do you see in these picture???

Ah, come on now, there is a fly in the Drum's mouth...

The blue tail shot...

and now the release

The look of the fish in this one is priceless...

After this, we made a move, but what we found were not the fish we were looking for, but it is always nice to see a bunch of "rat" Drum, so we moved again to another spot only to find a fellow out of his boat clamming, went down the bank a little ways and it was time to move.

Fishing down the way, we came across a couple of the local fishermen...

After this I took her to the forest, where she found another nice fish...

If I could only make her smile...

Whoa fellow, where you going...
All these shots were taken with my 300mm lens, they were out there a ways.

Great stuff there Lee. Were there any fish in those pictures? I swear all I saw was a photo shoot for fly fishing magazine.
