    Yellow Tail Snapper suggestions?

Anyone have suggestions for flies to use while chumming Yellow Tail? (Will be fishing Key Largo waters.) Thanks.

There you are...I was starting to worry about you...sniffing on another site again were ya! Big smile!
Ok back to your question...Wave I use to spend a month a year in the keys back when I had a real job, mostly in Key West. We chummed with cracked corn and I have never seen anything like it. Throw out a cup of corn and here they come...I mean the water turns yellow. Most any minnow color worked but it seemed that yellow over white clousres caught most and biggest. The biggest came on a sinking (lead) Line. Bigger fish were under the main school of fish.
Good luck, when you going down? Lee

    Thanks guys.

Lee, I wouldn't sniff around another site too much, the tuna doesn't smell as fresh. LOL I head for K.L. the 17th. Only get to play for a week. Got a charter booked, father in law says his boat is ready too. I'll have to see if I can talk the guys into the corn thing. They're sand ball andceral fans. I figure Yellows might be one that I can drift the fly back without casting. (These guys get a little nervous when I start talking about casting. No sense of adventure! I tell them I'll buy them a beer for each body piercing I give... LOL) If you have any other suggestions for the ocean side from boat, or bay side from the dock let me know. I'm hoping to get my first salt fish on the fly this trip.

In that case, don't forget to soak it overnight, use cornmeal, and fresh grease.

I hear there are a few Saildogs biting as well.
    Best of luck to ya'll.

Sailfish leave the area the minute my plane touches down every time!! LOL

Lee, what hook size would you suggest for the YT fly? Can I get away with a 1/0?

Yea you also can use up to a 3/0 for them. when they get 3+ pounds, they can take a good size fly.

Thanks. Think I was afraid that they would require some smaller sizes, smallest I have in my drawers is 1/0. (Drawers of the tying bench that is.... LOL)
