I really can't say which is my favorite as I build my own and usually have several on hand.
I do like the 6000 ABU series(6000, 6500 CS Mag) but still use my Penn Squidders for the heavy(Redfish) stuff.
Right now, I am evaluating the 11 foot Black Mamba rod and it's working well with the ABU 6500. I have other rods ranging from 11 to 15 feet.
I make my own plugs and usually cast with the shorter rods. If I'm bait fishing for whiting and Pompano, I use the 13 footers to reach out beyond the second bar.
I spiral wrap all of my conventional rods and have for some time. I do own some spinning outfits, a 402 Mitchell on a 9 foot custom rod that I fish off the pier with for cobia and 'Bull' Redfish..
I hung up on something today that I never saw for about 5 minutes. I don't think that it was a tarpon because they usually jump. Probably a big redfish. It ate upon my homemade Spook clone in bone color.
BTW; I surf fish the white sand beaches of the Florida Panhandle. I do like Perdido Key because it's close and you can fish the surf or turn around and fish the Lagoon for Speckled Trout and redfish..
That's about it. I'll try to do better in the future. C2
