Gamblers ....... they have a beaver tail as opposed to a fish tail ....

What you can't tell from these pictures is the beaver tail is on a horizontal plane ....

Think the beaver tail is an up & down motion that makes a more thumping sound ....

Will post fishing results after using ...... ICM

    Hook point.

ICM is correct I think; however, your example pics show the points far too exposed. IMNSHO...it should be barely through the grub but still resting flush so it won't pick up grass and algae coming through the weeds.

Alright Gottafly...give us a K.I.S.S.ing lesson...on second thought...the answer will be just fine.

EDIT...after looking again...I think the hookpoint is through...the hump in the grub has got to be it.

OK guys, a bunch of great answers here and all of you are thinking.

Basically the ones that said the bait is up side down are correct...or are they...

Remember in the prospecting post, I said I was fishing this as a swim bait and was using it for prospecting...
This is how the picture I first posted in this thread, shows it rigged...

This is how you guys say it is suppose to be rigged...

Now look at the 2 swim baits together...

Now notice the tail...think planer now...the top tail, rigged up side down has the angle of the tail pushing the grub down toward the bottom, keeping the grub running straighter as well as deeper and a faster retrieve...helping keep it in the strike zone longer...

The bottom picture, the tail is causing the grub to want to plane up toward the surface and not letting it run as straight as the one rigged up side down as well as not being able to retrieve it as fast...

Some times the manufacturer makes a product for one thing, in this case, it is a grub designed to be fished on a grub led head of some sort. The tail is designed for fishing as such. What I have done, is use a product designed for one thing and found another use for it in a manor it was not designed for. In this case, I feel it worked better that what it was designed for...give it a shot, The Greene crushed the Red Drum again today used as a swim bait. this time of the year, it is the right size or the same size as out Mullets...

Have you tried these greenes with a jig head yet? I wonder how it would swim w/ 1/8 oz and all the weight forward? we have been crushing them with (reds/black/) with live shrimp..but at times its fun to try new soft bait combo's.Thanks for the Tip.

No I have not, were fishing 2' or less with lots of grass. The lead head I feel would tend to pick up grass. I like being able to keep it weedless. That also gives me the ability to throw into the marsh on the flood tides...

Lee once again you put it out there in plain terms so everyone can understand. I didn't use to fish a paddle tail in a lot of current and deeper water because the lifting effect of the tail wouldn't let it get to bottom. I always used a fluke in that condition. You have given me something else to think about. If the upside down rig acts as a planar I should be able to use paddle tails in deeper swifter water. Once again you are the man. Thanks for putting this info out.
