    Walking on the wild side

Even though things don't work out the way we have it planed, over the years, I have learned not to let it get to me and take what I get and make the best of it. Having this passed Friday and Sunday booked only to have them canceled at the last moment, I decided that I would go fishing anyway near the house and to get some more salt in my face from getting off the Roanoke River.

Now for those that know me, I am subject to get distracted by the nature that surrounds me, ( worse when I am by my self) for me that's another form of fishing that I am as addicted to, trying to capture what I see on film, and today was no different and out came the camera after only 20 minutes of fishing. Not being on a "Maritime Island" in a while, I took a walk to see what was blooming...

All shot in very low light...hope you all enjoy...

It seems that each time that I do a shoot, there are a few pictures that I can never decide, which one I like the best are the best out of that group, the next couple are like that...

Does anyone know what this bird is, not a GBH and I have no Idea...

    These guys are tuff...

Shooting in low light is tuff as it gets, but you shoot in what is handed to you if you want shots to take home...

Gotta love how hard it is to find these little guys...

I call these guys Oyster Catchers...

    The GBH...

And the rains came. When I took this one, it was in a fine heavy mist, gave this shot something extra. I love how it shown the moisture on the marsh...

Great shots once again, Capt Lee! I thought, at first glance, that the heron was a Little Blue Heron........but something didn't look right. It's a Louisiana Heron, the white underparts and long slender neck are distinctive of the species. Nice capture.
Our only oystercatcher on the east coast, the American Oystercatcher is considered uncommon in most places.........but with our perfect oyster marsh habitat, we seem them regularly.

Nice pictures there Lee. I am not famaliar with Maritime island. One of those pics with the boats in background looked like it might be Masonboro island.

Thanks for the kind words guys, glad you liked the pictures. I realy enjoy trying to capture what I see on film, for me it is a form of hunting or fishing...

Robja, That's not the name of the island, I used that term in reference to like a Maritime forest, this was a Maritime Island with the type of wildlife and vegetation that grows there...

    Thumbs up

Cool shots Lee ! It is a true pleasure to see our little creek and surrounds thru the eyes of an artist with a great camera ! I'd say that a good many more folks benefited from your day off than if you had filled those charters !

Whatcha reccon beat up the wing joints on that GBH so badly ?
