Wade fishing report
Hit the beach again yesterday, and pounded the flat for flounder, or whatever else would bite.
It started very slow with a tide against wind situation, and a hard angle to cast into the wind to cover the water properly.
Just in time I had a fish hit like a freight train on the swing of the drift, and took off in a circle around me. He got to the reel pretty darn quick, and took drag a few times. I had the drag cranked down pretty good and a 20lb flouro leader. What I thought was a trout as he came to the surface after the hook up, turned out to be a 30" striper. A good healthy fish that I released.
That warmed me up and soon after there were a few throwbacks caught, and a few of us missed some fish.
The 59 degree water finally took its toll and we hit the beach for a break. The high tide was still trying to get in, but the current was slow at best.
We hit a new section with the flood tide and everyone finally caught at least one fish.
I missed a hookup and immediately casted back to the spot and slowly dragged the fly. BAM...there he is. When I lifted the rod I could see the near keeper class fish on the dropper fly, and saw another swing and miss at the second fly....DAMN.
Turns out the fish was about 1/4" short. Oh well, the pullage was still nice.
Will get some dinner next time.
Pic of striper coming soon.

What No Fluke for Dinner!
Dave, not too bad a day when you are trying to get a keeper fluke and ending up with to 30 inch striper. I would call it a pretty good day. Sounded like that beach area is a pretty good place to fish since everyone had some action.
In the meantime you will just have to eat more chicken.

Good Job!
I dusted off the gear and soaked the boat for the first trip of the season SAT. Bit breezy for the fly rod but wife and I took light spinning gear and tried a few usual spots prospecting for puppy drum or stripers in the marsh. Ended the trip with two release flounder - both caught in about three feet of water. Both were short (15-16") and released to grow bigger. Beautiful day.

Thanks all. I've had two decent trips wading this year, but can't say I've been too lucky in the boat on the stripers. We went out on Friday afternoon and I caught the only fish between my Dad and I. A 15" striper
.
A skinny but strong striper.

Skim Milk Flat one. About 15"
