Vintage Fly Fishing Combo - fly and casting bamboo rod
We received this from a visitor, can someone help him?
I have a old combo fly and casting bamboo rod that I think grandpa bought back in the 60's (I think) at Sears and Robuck (I think). I am having a garage sale this week end and would like to sell it for a fair price and was wondering if you could give me a ballpark figure or direct me to some one who might know. Thank you for whatever help you can give me, Dan
Its probably best for him to list it and sell it on ebay rather than a garage sale. If there is value in the rod it will usually be known by multiple buyers and therefore self regulate its value. There are a number of rods that sell on ebay ranging from $30.00 - over $1000.00 I will talk with Ken Preston tonight who is a well known rod builder who specializes in bamboo rods. I will see what he has to say.
Capt-D is right. Ebay is a better option. I have a couple old flyrods from my grandfather and I was shocked to see how much they go for on ebay. They can get pretty pricey.
Better to sell it to someone who will appreciate it, and not someone who is just trying to get it cheap and turn around and sell it for a profit.
