ok. my advice absolutely freaking sucks!!!i think it is made for making little trout flies..i turned it into a rotating vice by half breaking it then putting a different pin in.

my birthday is coming up. i hope i will be able to get a new one. i am looking for a decent saltwater vice that is not very expensive. any suggetions?

    HAHAHA..... better than gambling right?
You could go with 100 different options Jake.
Narrow it down.. do you want a pedestal or a clamp? It a true rotary important to you?
The standard bang for you buck is a renzetti traveler. Get the CAM SALTWATER jaws bud.. you'll be much happier.. you should be able to find one for around $150.. other stuff just won't hold up and you'll be staring at a $80 piece of junk on the side of your tying table in a few years.

I use a norvise.. they are expensive but.. Here's an example of the service.. I had my last norvise for 8 years. Realistically.. I tied somewhere around 50,000 flies on that vise and honestly... probably a heck of a lot more than that. It was a little long in the tooth... kinda getting worn.. I called Norm Norlander in Washington State. He makes the vises ... in the USA.. which is nice... I told him the deal. He rushed me a brand new norvise with all the trimmings at cost so I could have a new one sitting at my table for tiefest.. I got it in 3 days from the other side of the country. So, I'm set until I'm in my mid forties... which ain't bad.. Just something to think about. By the best you can the first time. Then you don't waste money on something that will only last a short while.

I have the Renzetti Traveler w/ the saltwater cam jaws. I've tied from #8-8/0

I only use my pedestal when tying somewhere else, I use the clamp from my first bass pro vise to attach it to my table.

    Definitely worth the cost.
