Triggerfish Fly?
Does anyone know what kind of flies are good for catching triggerfish?

I think Admin is going to let me have this space
You may want to make one that looks like a finger... Every time I catch one of the ugly buggers they try to bite me when I'm un hooking them...
Actually I would think most any crab pattern baly moving would work...

Welcome to the site.
I can't say I know a damn thing about a trigger fish. Seen them on weedlines and while snorkeling.
What kind of bait works for them on conventional and spinning tackle?
I'd almost guarantee you could catch one on a chart/white #2 clouser.
Tell me more about trigger fish and then we can talk flies.

i like to chum up with clams just like you are trying to catch spadefish. also using normal shark chum brings them to the surface. i catch them with a little piece of squid or clams on a small hook but bigger than one used for spadefish. they have alot of teeth and wil try their best to bite you. also when you go to clean them you might want to bring your machete cause its like cutting through leather.

Ah ha...I was gonna guess a spadefish type approach.
tie some #4 circle hook "clam" flies. They're just a tan rubberband piece lashed down to a hook. Drift them back in the clam chum slick with a sinking line of some sort. No real casting needed, just plunk it down.
match the hatch if you will.
Not to mention take me with you and I'll tie the flies!!

We take em on the Flats and Coral Flats on the Seychelles Atolls, permit style.... Tricky little bastards but more addictive to chase than women!!!
They tail on the flats and coral banks in numbers, but are hell of a spooky, and clever little buggers to... they will eye ball a fly with the left eye, then the right eye, and if you lucky, they'll eat it... but then trying to hook them is a nightmare.... invarably you will pull the fly out of their mouth time and again, but they will follow it all the way almost to your rod tip trying to eat it again and again, but trying to get the hook to stick in that mouth is tough! You gotta get it in the lips or outside the mouth... if it goes behind those teeth, you are done!!
And if you ever doubt those jaws strength...... So many times you'll make a cast and have the fish eat your fly 10 times without hooking up.... So you check your fly and you see why..... Ever seen a Gamakatsu SL12S crunched up into a little ball of metal, as if it were made of soldering wire? Cause thats what these fish can do with one snap of the jaws!! Mind your Fingers!!

Oh yeah, on the flats they eat mainly small Merkins, Velcro Crabs and Permit Hermits...

What a terriffic fish Neptune. What species of trigger is tat. Got any more pics of those beauties? Thanks for posting up.
PMC you are prolly catching the Brown triggers. They sure are fine table fare. Some of the firmest fish flesh I have ever seen. Sure would be cool on the fly.
