    Tough morning small fish,

Beautiful morning but very tough fishing. Got out this morning with one person charter. No wind and it looked like a knock them dead day.

Tried the inlet with out a strike and then worked the beachfront and only got a some sea herring on small Chart/yellow jiggies and small deceivers in 5 to 6 foot of water. No weakies this morning

Went back to the inlet where we had a bass hit right at the boat, missing a hook up.

Noticed off the Wildwood beach a pack of birds working real hard off the beach. Ran up there with great expectations only to find a good amount of baitfish with no fish under it.

Came back to the inlet where I hooked a small bass on a Mr. Bunker plug. With our trip almost done, We put in some extra time and worked the inside of the jetty tight to the rocks and finally found a few small bass. Charter got three small bass on intermediate and I got one on floating line, with the biggest being 20 inches. We kept thinking we could get a decent fish. Water was super clean with no signs of fish working any kind of bait anywhere and saw no bait in the inlet at all, like we did other mornings. Had to really work for every fish today.

    Another tough morning!!!!!!!

First time we haven't gotten a striper in a while. Left the dock around 5:30 a.m. with a little bit of a breeze. Was blowing pretty good all night. Worked a 5 ft area draining off a flat as we still had low light and about half the tide out. Worked it for an hour and ended up with three 3lb blues.

It was a beautiful morning and with the sun getting higher we headed to the inlet.

Spotted some bird play and we got some 2 lb blues under them on the fly. Tried working the beachfront, but with the wind, chop and little bit of surf and dirty water we had no strikes. Did a shorten trip and will go out another day as he comes down every weekend and does a number of trips with me.

Did find a life ring and emergency light drifting by the rocks. Reported it to the Coast Guard and dropped it off at the base. Might of come off a ship. Was printed on it. Emperous of the Sea Nasau

Guess I always have high expectations. Can usually find stripers all year long and some days we get a good number of them. We should have some decent ones in the thirty inch plus size by now. Just not seeing them and I get antsy. Fun to have the action of the smaller bass , but it is the real drag burners, that take you right into the backing, that really get you going. I am spoiled, forget sometimes that guys that don't get to fish that often would love to just get a couple of fish no matter what the size.

I do appreciate every fish I catch and enjoy the fight, no matter what the size and I do release 95 percent of what I catch so others have a better chance of having the same fun.

It was a fun morning and the charter had a great time catching some fish and enjoying a beautiful day on the water.

Not one of my better weeks. Murphy must be catching up to me!

Was out yesterday morning with a one person fly charter. Looked super good in the back. Got three quick fish in the first hour, from 5:00 to 6:00 and one in the next three hours. All small fish in the back. Did try the beach. Big surf lots of chop and loaded with weed. Same for the inlet and not one sign of bird activity anywhere.

Worst part was my electric trolling engine went down. Believe it is the circuit board and have to take it to Dover Delaware for repairs and have a lot of trips this week that I am going to have to do with out an electric motor. Going to make my job twice a tough. It is covered under warranty and hope I can get it to him on Monday and he can replace it while I wait.

Checking into buying a backup for times like this, but think they are up to around $900 now.

My trip for this morning was cancelled. My charter had work related problems and had to cancel his vacation so I have some time to figures some things out.
