We had the short meeting and pizza. We had a larger turn out as we were only expecting a small number due to it being a weeknight for fishing with people having to work the next day.
Weather and fish Gods were not on the same page as our club members. We arrived in force at Corsons. Must of been close to 35 anglers ready to do battle.
We got a shot of as many members as we could wearing their new so-spenders live vests to sent to the company where we purchased them.
There is always that one club member that wants to save a few bucks and take the economy route. Some what effective but don't try this at home and not Coast Guard Approved.
We all hit the water before the sun set and were spread out from the sod banks to the ocean point.
On the way out we stopped to help Steve Miller correct a problem with his reel. Dave here doing the hands on change.
Pasted by Jim Warner as the sun had just dipped below the horizon.
As you could see, the wind was a huge factor. When we reached the point. The wind was blowing directly in our face about a 25 mph steady and the sand on the beach was blowing and looked like drifting snow. (not your most ideal fly fishing weather.) Our guys and gals hung in there like troopers and despite tough conditions they were able to make decent casts that where good enough to catch fish. (If the fish were there)
I elected to go all the way to the point with Reggie, Duane, John, Joe and a couple of others. We had the incoming tide, deep drop off, nice rip, but no fish. None of us had even a hit and all but one person in the club caught a fish that I know of other than (?) I can't remember his name, but he had a fluke (yes the fish type) The club members did as well as the pluggers and bait fishermen so it was just a bad overall fish night and not a skill issue.
Off in the distance we could see a couple of thunder storms with lightning but they never threatened our night.
The company and camaraderie was outstanding. A fun night was had by all and everyone had a great time hanging around afterward for quite awhile.
