Sebastian Inlet Fl.
Hey guys, I am heading down to orlando next week to visit my parents for a couple of days and I also have plan to head down to Sebastian Inlet and do some fishing,is the pier crowded, hows the night fishing and has there been any good fishing on the back side of the inlet where the picnic tables are at. Also would like to know if there has been any fishing going on under the bridges when you get into melbourne?? Thanks

Crab mustard is good
Luism6, I will be heading down there in just a few weeks too. This time of year is tough down there. Especially with the cold weather they have had as of lately. The inlet pier is always popular but sometimes you get lucky and have it all to yourself. I think your best bet will be the inlet as compared to under the bridges further north(melborne) again because of the weather and water temps this time of year. I will be sharking from shore when I get down there. You may also want to give that a go. Just a thought. Also the inlet has a website and they post daily as to what has been caught there. Very informational. Good luck on your trip.

I just got squirted with ballyhoo poop
Hey, local from the area. The north jetty can get pretty crowded, especially at night. Get there early and claim your spot. Live bait is the way to go.
The area by the picnic tables you are referring to doesn't produce much more than catfish no matter what bait you are using.
The bridges near melbourne hold giant black drum this time of year. Use half a catfish for bait on a big live bait hook with 60 lb leader and an ounce and a half lead. Tackle should be 20lbs or greater.Caught a 58lb black drum last year.
Hit the surf early with live mullet for a shot at snook in the trough.
I agree with sushi that your best bet will be the inlet, the bridges aren't very consistent. Consider the rocks inside the inlet on the north side, I've pulled some monster snook out of there.

Went down to sebastian on thursday early morning, perfect day to be fishing. Had a couple bites in the morning but nothing hook on, then around 10 thats when the blues and whiteys started really biting, hook 3 blues and 2 whiteys on the north pier but threw the whiteys back because they were small and then hook a nice size stingray. Around 11:30 it slowed down but still had a great day!!! Planning on going saturday. I can tell you this if anyone is planning a trip to sebastian get there early so you can get a good spot, I had a great time so will you!!

Hey Luism,
I just stepped in from my vaca in Sebastian. I must have walked right by you on the inlet jetties. Did awesome while there. Fish were really turning on, a lot of nice finger mullet for bait along with the usual pinfish, pigfish duo. Probably had fourty to fifty run offs of shark at night while I was there. Don't want to even elaborate as far as what my hook-up ratio was. Found the snook in the river eating ferociously. Secret spot that my cousin showed me years ago. Also caught jacks, ladyfish, 1 redfish, 2 trout, a couple black drum, sheephead, rays, and some catfish on the bottom of the river channel. Even saw a couple of tarpon roll way in the back of the St. Seb. river. Kingfish were hot last weekend as well and after I saw the catches was wishing I had chased them but I kindof ran out of time!
Wish I had known you were there, we could have hooked up one day. So how did you make out this past weekend? Weather was perfect!

I never tried the pier myself but I heard a couple of success stories. The inlet pier is always popular but sometimes you get lucky and have it all to yourself. I think your best bet will be the inlet as compared to under the bridges further north(melborne) again because of the weather and water temps this time of year. I personally prefer a boat cause it gives me more opportunities. You might wanna try this out.
