    Refinishing a Stiffy Hyrid Pole......

I know I'm opening myself for a few off color remarks on this one. Feel free to add some usefull hints as well........

Been to Stiffy site, they suggest a light sanding of 220 grit sandpaper, then spraying with any 2 part polyurethane paint (Awl Grip, System Three)
Is there an easier way or a different 1 part spray can to accomplish this ???

A “shedding” pole can leave fibers in your hands which can be a little annoying...... ....

Let the games begin ........... ........ ICM

    re-finishing pushpoles...

Since I live or die with a pushpole (and have four at last count), I've looked into the subject a bit. What Stiffy recommended is the best solution that I know of (I'd try to find a boat painting operation that could sneak in a small item while shooting Awlgrip or other high quality two part paint for a really top job...)

Now for the fun part.... Pushpoles aren't built with any gelcoat or other protective coating so the glass, glass/graphite, or all graphite (if you want to sound cool call graphite, 'carbon fiber') sticks are very vulnerable to sun damage (UV causes the things to begin de-laminating...). Keep any pushpole out of the sun when not in use and you'll greatly slow down this process and end up with a stick you can live with... Hope this helps.

Billy, I with Bob here, except I would sell that one to someone at a good price and go get a new one, but I know you won't listen to me...

hand sand it with some 220 and check around with boat shops or body shops. they're always painting different things and will usually have no problem hitting something small at the same time. i just did this with some seeker igfa 80 blanks they were black and i wanted them white. i got them ready and took them over to one of the boat shops and they said the next time they spray something they'll get my rods too. they were ready about three days later.

Gloves sound like the best/easiest option.
