Rattler Mullet

After reading my latest fly fishing magazine about rattles in flies I decided to make my version of the silcone mullet where I put in two glass rattles enclosed in mylar tubing. I figured if it works great it should be twice as deadly with the rattles in it. I call it my Rattler Mullet. Can't wait to give it a shake down.

I tried to make it bulky to push a lot of water. I will work on improvements till I get it right where I want it.

I have had one black mullet fly for a few years now and most of the hair has been eaten off. I beleive I must of caught over 100 stripers on this fly. Never have had a fly last this long, whether it was a bite off, snag or just torn apart. Figured I better make a back up fly or two and have had good luck with other flies with rattles in them. I usually don't make them cause they are more work. Can't wait to see how it rides and tracks in the water. That will be the true test.

Got to try it this evening and got a 21 inch bass on it. Don't know if it was a fair trial. I was catching fish on a bunker fly with blitzing fish and decided to try the new fly. It was the last fish I caught on the night before the moon came up bright and shut down the bite. Action looked good on what I could see with a flash light in the water. Only time will tell if I got it right.
