A question for you rod builders
My question is, what exactly is involved with building your own inshore type rods, and if I dont build too many would it end up being more expensive in the long run. Id imagine shipping blanks is not cheap. Also, are all the components and tools needed readily available? thanks |

BTG - I have a limited experience with rod building but my interest in the craft is growing. I have built a few jiggin' rods and a couple of grouper dropper's but I will be doing my first inshore rod asap. The blank should be here this week, I ordered it from Riley Rods.
Mike builds the best inshore/drum rod I have ever used and is located in Wilmington ( http://www.rileyrods.com/Riley_Rods_.html ). I recommend giving him a call and going over any questions you may have. He also has many blanks, rod building tools, and components in stock as well. |

$200 a pop?
You can spend $80 on a Shimano Clarus, break it over your knee, take it back to the store you bought it from and they'll hand you a brand new one.. No it's not a custom or anything too fancy, but I've never had trouble catching fish on em.
