Question for the fly rod guys.

Does it count as fly fishing if you use bait on a fly rod? For example, if I caught a spadefish on a fly rod using clams and a hook, I do not consider this flyfishing. A live bunker on a hook on the end of a flyrod I do not consider flyfishing. I am curious what the Fly guys think. If the hook is baited and there is no artificial fly on the end don't tell me you caught it on a flyrod- DON'T COUNT IN MY BOOK. Should be taboo as far as I am concerned. What do the fly enthusiasts think?

bait on a fly rod is a no no. but the main thing is are ya having fun. this past year in cape lookout at the rock pile, me and 400 of my best friends were fishing for specs. i emptied my fly box with not a single bump. my 2 buddies were loading up with bait but i couldn't buy one. changed lines several times,still not a touch then i did the unthinkable ,i put a piece of shrimp on my clouser 2secs later kaboom, hooked up. did i get a fish yes did it give me satisfaction, not at all. just realized some fish become used to being hand fed and don't want to chase food.

I have heard of guys tying spade flies with pieces of #64 rubberbands. Get them chummed up with cut clams and let the fly sink with the chunks. Its not exactly the same as teasing in a roosterfish with a live mullet, then having to make the perfect cast with the perfect fly. But if its a record your after.......
